Dungeon and Steem: Season 1 – The End

The end of an endless campaign

6 months have passed since I opened the registration for DnS. It was my second Steemit series right behind the metaphysical one. It’s hard to believe that something that has been part of my blog since its very beginning is at the end. As the witcher ones wisely said “something ends, something begins”. I can’t but agree.

We’ve had it all

In those 6 months I have formed some of my first Steemit bonds, for which I’m grateful. As for you, the players, I hope that you had fun. You all have joined with the knowledge that most of you will not win anything (in order to provide bigger rewards for the winners), but still you gave it quite some effort. We all had the chance to dive once again into complexish DnD world, with most of its attributes. The sheer nostalgia was immense for most of us I guess and for some it was a new experience. Also we have attracted quite some unique voters. Maybe we did not gather active fans in terms of comments, but the amount of unique voters was impressive. Thanks for that guys!

The winners

And the fun part now. First let me say that I have always said that the payout will be done in SBD. Well Steem is for quite some time below the SBD value and I sold it all for Steem. From long term point of view I think we all will gain from it. What I’m trying to say here is that you will receive Steem instead of SBD at 1:1 ratio. I hope there will be no complains.
The elvish winner is @fishjojo1. I have to say that his performance wasn’t anything special, but elves generally had the worst competitors in terms of DnD skills. He has basically just waited till the rest of the elves has died or was disqualified. Moreover it seems like he has been inactive on Steemit for 4 months. Since I don’t want to send this amount of money to a dead account, I will await confirmation that you are still among us. You rightfully deserve 41,858 Steem.
The Human winner is @sircork. I can safely call you my friend now. You have been the best DnD player I had here and often times I had to spend hours going through your plans. HOURS! Also I sometimes had to think really hard to force you where I needed you to be. You didn’t make it easy at all to me, but you increased my overall fun-level quite a bit! Without you the DnS wouldn’t be what it was, about that I’m sure. Since I’m finishing this post at BBQ party where I have to decide who will win the bonus 20 Steem for best plan, expect your payout tomorrow.
And the overall winner is @gregory-f. As I said in previous post, I have enjoyed your plans more and more with every single game day. At later stages of the game, it felt like you have “became Krognak” for the duration of the game. You have almost matched my visualized characteristics of the character. You should know that whenever I’ll have time to work on my book again, when I’ll be working on Krognak’s chapter, I will think about you, how you acted and probably even make him do something that you have done in this game. As for the payout, expect it tomorrow after the BBQ just like @sircork. Your payout will be 164,687 Steem!

Bonus 20 Steem for the best plan

Some time has passed since I have written the first part of this article. Now I’m at the BBQ session with my friends and I brought up this topic. Since I didn’t receive the much needed help from the community, I found different community to help me:P. And the decision is…

Top three plans from our perspective were:
@xxsenpaixsamaxx’s – The structure was just awesome. Mentioning all the attributes and skills that you wanted to use was just so convincing.
@sircork’s – Or in other words “how to compress all the skill and wit into 8 words”.
@gregory-f’s – Your depiction of a religious, cold-hearted, hardened, opened-minded and fair orc was really touching.

@sircork – Basically all the people I’ve asked said your name. I guess you deserve it:).

The pause between the seasons will be a long one. But DnS will once be back! And remember…

Aw. This post made me anxious as I forced myself to read it top to bottom without skipping ahead to the spoilers, then laugh and smile and grin. Thanks for the game. It's been amazing to play and challenging and fun. At times I had to rush through my plans, to get them out on time, but I tried to be strategic in my quest to be careful.

You did this so well, and I hope we can do it again. I am shocked by my plan choice doing so well. I had comprised some more complex ones for sure, but overall, we all agreed, the 8 word plan was my best option of all and it was the decision that kept me alive and set me up to win, so there IS that, after all.

I too, call you MY friend, and one day, I will meet you in my travels. I am sure of it. Until then, virtual will do, and we can still mutally enjoy our bad habits in cyberspace together and chat from time to time.

I am sad it's over. But if I know you, another adventure for us, is just around the next turn in the forest path.

:D Thank you all who helped me win by choosing my plan!

I will be donating the prize money to my charity project on the steem blockchain called @YouAreHOPE so thank you on behalf of the folks all over the world this will help as I add it to our other donations for steem community driven, block chain transparent humanitarian aid around this big dirty rock we all live on together and call Earth, our home.

:D

Well there are few things that could be improved, but i think that this whole experience will help me to create even more magnificent season 2! Of course it is around the next turn in the forest path...the forest though is in different dimension...on different planet…quite a walk still, but since you like walking you’ll be just fine:D

I will hang up with you anytime buddy:P Our friendship will then be sealed by a good joint about that I’m sure. I also am glad that the prize money will further help people in need!

When we began before I told you my character's basic style and intention for future plans - how he would ever be, shall we say now in retrospect, cautious.

This time, in season two, if I may return to play again, I think, my character will be more developed, as, well, a character. He shall not die in season two. He shall prevail into season 3, and beyond and become a DnS legend!

Oh and thanks for the prize money, when's the next round! :P

Unfortunately it will not be possible to use the same character across seasons:P But it’s quite good idea to create some kind of Hall of Fame. @gregory-f’s Krognak is the first DnS living legend! You will either have to choose character that doesn’t possess magical abilities or work on your magical skills if you want to prevail

Yea you guys RUINED ME!:D All the hard work and after that I still had to give away 200 bucks :D

I should also create a list of "auto-invited players" into next season...

Returning champions, ultimately perhaps, being bosses in levels against newbs.

This is totally possible!...around season 3-4 :P

See ya there.

I am truly honored that you would consider including some aspect of my characterization of Krognak in your book. I hope you are able to finish your book in the not too distant future and will publish it here on Steemit. I would love to find out what happened to me...er, I mean Krognak, next in the story.

Thank you so much for the generous prize and all the hard work you put into running this game. It has definitely been the highlight of my time here on Steemit these last few months.

I want to leave you with one last thought. When Krognak spoke, to you humans it may have sounded like just a lot of grunting and snorting, but it Krognak's head it was pure Shakespeare.

The future unfortunately is distant due to school. If my only jobs were Steemit and book than it would be doable, but the university kinda ruins my dream plan:DD Another problem is that I need to finish it in my mother tongue first...

Anyway I’m really glad that DnS has been a Steemit’s highlight! And your final Krognak’s thought will be remembered:)

sounds like you've been doing something really cool here - it's to bad that you didn't get the participation you were hoping for - I know how things like that go - I hope you do it again - it sounds like you have a lot of passion for this so I would hate to see you give it up - keep up the good work! There is a big market for this sort of thing and I think if you keep at it- you will find your target audience.

Oh no worries! overall I was very happy with the contest:) Also a "Decentralized-MMO-text-DnD" like game is brewing:P This was just a warm up...

I'm looking forward to that.. I'm kinda a closet nerd when it comes to D&D - did somebody really win 41,800 Steem? I cant wrap my head around that - isn't that worth like over 80 grand? what am I missing here?

Actually @gregory-f has won 167 (about 500 bucks now) :P Well Dnd can earn you money when blockchain is involved!

This post has received a 11.03 % upvote from thanks to: @gregory-f.

Also, I still need to ship you that package, and thank you for your patience with me!

Shit i forgot to mention you here:( well you will have to do with the mentions at the beggining of the campaign...Dont worry about the package...If it ever will arive to my mailbox ill be even happier for the time i had to wait:D

Hello @fingersik I recently joined steemit, I haven’t even done an introduction yet 😓, but this sounds really fun! I hope you will consider me as a player whenever you get around to season 2? Anyways good luck with university.

Similar project will hopefully slowly start brewing! Stay tuned:)
