The Thank You Economy - Week 5 with 6+ SBI Shares

Back For Your Weekly Dose Of Heart Felt Thankfulness

I'm going to start posting the contest on Monday nights to be more consistent so this week we have a bit of overlap.

WOW, 5 Weeks and I'm still having a blast, the Thank You Economy has turned into a fun project and every week I'm meeting new people, finding new communities and awesome ways to participate and connect with other Steem users.  Last weeks contest was great. We gave away 4 shares of SBI and the engagement level was great, with over 70 total comments and 12 entries.  I was also introduced to Asher's Engagement League that @abh12345 hosts. It is a great steemit support project and I would encourage everyone to check it out and join up.

I just want to Thank Everyone again who has been participating, and you guys helped me get to the top 10 in the engagement league on my first week...  This week we have a couple sponsors and additions to the contest.  So a huge thank you goes out to @ecoinstant an awesomely fun and engaging sponsor who is starting up a Small Fish Games initiative and sponsoring 2 shares of SBI  and to @freedomshift from the Curation Circle Creed (#ccc) for sponsoring 1 share and maybe more.

What is The Thank You Economy contest all about?

An Attitude of Gratitude - The Thank You Economy is simply a way to say thank you to someone who has helped you, influenced you or blessed you in some way in the Steem community.  It can be tough getting started on Steemit, and the people who have been here for a while realize that.  After all they were new at one time as well.  What I realized about the Steemit community was there are people helping us new guys all over the place, but what can we really do to show our appreciation back?  Not much....

When you are new about all you can do is say "Thank You," maybe give a post a resteem to the 100 followers who are not bots, and a small dust vote.  Those things can add up especially if they have a lot of followers.  That's where the idea for the Thank You Economy contest arose from I wanted to do more to say thank you.

Maybe I can do more.  It might help to give them a little added exposure in a contest and possibly a share of Steem Basic Income, which will pay them over and over as long as they are posting content.  I thought there might be other who wanted to do the same, not to mention it's fun.

Just saying thank you to someone opens up all kinds of opportunities to interact with each other.  YOU CAN THANK ANYONE, anyone who has helped you and made a difference in your life, you could even thank @ned for helping develop the steemit platform, now if he won it would probably be a waste of a good SBI share, he usually declines payment for his posts.

LET'S HAVE SOME FUN

On to the Contest Rules

The Base Contest - We'll keep this simple.

  • Leave a comment on this post.
  • In the comment tag someone who has helped you or influenced you on Steemit use the @coinsandchains format.
  • Then briefly tell us why you chose them.

That's all you have to do.  (upvotes, restreems and follows are appreciated though)

One thing, please do not tag bots or alt accounts.

The Prizes and Winner Selection: Here's where some twists happen

3 ENTRIES WILL WIN!!!! That's pretty good odds.....

  • Two commenters will be randomly selected by the amazing prize wheel I found. The account making the comment and the account tagged in the comment will receive one SBI share each (4 total shares).
  • @ecoinstant will also select the most interesting or heartfelt or well thought out or most engaging, thank you note for one SBI share to a recommender and a recommended.
  • I will also give an upvote to each valid entry, but that does not amount to much.  Upvote your own comment if you would like, or if you have a @dustsweeper account it might help.
  • Bonus Round: Another chance to win SBI

@freedomshift has generously added a participation bonus, one SBI share for 6 entries that qualify.

@freedomshift: To encourage people to join #ccc, I'll offer additional SBI shares for those who enter the contest or other contests in #ccc based on 1 SBI for every 6 valid entries (200+ words, use of #ccc, reference to the creed).

Here's what you need to do to Qualify:

    • Create a post for your entry,  200+ words following the #ccc guidelines found here
    • Be sure to use #ccc as one of your tags and include the reference to the #ccc
    • Please include a link back to this contest as well.
    • Comment on this post with the name of the person you want to thank and a link to your post
    • This comment/post will count as your entry into the main contest also.

This is an awesome bonus, and it adds a chance for you to earn a little on your post as well.  Thank you @freedomshift for doing this.

Just Incase You Don't Know What SBI Is.

In the interest of saving space you can learn more by visiting @steembasicincome.  It is a pretty cool project with several people working on it. Tthe brains behind the operation and main sponsor is @josephsavage #steembasicincome

AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSORS......

(I love it I sound like a tv host)

    @ecoinstant   - The Small Fish Games! #smallfishgames

What is The Small Fish Games? It is the brain child of @ecoinstant, who is currently beta testing an initiative to create some fun and engagement on here on steem. I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of FUN and he is talking about some great prizes: Delegated SP, SBI shares, Treeplanter Upvotes....

You can check out the beginning of the Small Fish Games in this post: Hidden Contests and the start of the Small Fish Games! He is accepting entries, comments, suggestions, clarification, notification, queries, confused looks and complaints in the comments section!

Hi @coinschandchains!

I would like to nominate @daan. This is a person whom I hardly know but has faith in me. Without me even knowing, he sent in 5 SBI to help me get started and I would really love to be able to pay it forward back to him. He even made a post about 20 days ago telling about it and how he would also like to help support minnows.

His post can be found at Plankton Support - Supporting New Steemians To Reach Minnow Status [SBI Giveaway]

Even though I have never met him, not had an actual conversation with him, he has been one of the most generous people I have met in my first few days of joining Steemit. I am not singling anyone out as I also nominated someone else last week. But his generosity has helped me get my reputation up quickly and for that I am forever grateful with getting an automatic vote from him daily and from the SBI he donated to my name. Thank you, @daan!

Now that is the kind of amazing story I love to hear. LOL, I just broke 50 rep with this post and I've been here and active 2 or 3 months. What he has helped you accomplish is amazing. I loved the post he did, I guess I'm going to have to check out a few of those groups he mentioned.
One more thing, You can also take some credit yourself, I can see you putting in a lot of work to get to where you are.

I try to make at least one post a day. Sometimes I do get carried away with different challenges, but they are fun to do! And thank you very much for the compliment and also for the compliment for @daan. I am sure he is thankful for it as well!

You also like commenting on the Curie posts as well, I saw you all over the place. I actually expected you to win that, I had too much going on Saturday and Sunday, I didn't get manhy comments done.

Yes, I do, but this week has been extremely hectic for me and I have not done any posting, so unless I try to get caught up between now and then, I won't be making any type of commenting on their posts this week, which is unfortunate.

I am going to write a full post about @paulag and the engagement leagues she runs. Have pushed me to up my account a lot and I am grateful for that.

Here is the link https://steemit.com/ccc/@stever82/the-thank-you-economy-week-5-my-entry

That is awesome, Our first entry to take advantage of the bonus @freedomshift proposed.
You picked a great steemian to thank as well, I'm enjoying the Red Fish League as well, it has pushed me to engage more. One day I will graduate....

I would have to say @taskmaster4450 is a person that i have a lot of respect for. We started at about the same time on steemit and he has done so well in the meantime. His post have so much good information for steemit users and he always pointed me in the right direction when i needed it.
Somehow he seems to know so much of what is going on and has introduced me to so many new concepts that i wouldn't have gotten very far on here without him.

@niallon11, are you sure the name is correct It keeps coming up as unknown. I tried a couple of variations too.

My apologies. I was out by one number in the name. Ive made an edit to it there. I wrote it without double checking. Sorry.

Much better now, that is a great choice they are all over the place with stuff and some brilliant articles on the future of steem and the platform. I found some really cool stuff in a couple of his posts. (yes, I'm a nerd, I can't help it.)

I know. I've been following that account since i started on here and he has had some great posts. Always seems to be in the know about what is happening now and next. Has also given me some great advice and help over the past year so it was the first one that i thought of.

I think most people on here are nerds to some extent or another. Thats how we have the interest to be here in the first place before the blockchain becomes mainstream.

Yep with as crappy and non user friendly as the main steemit app is, it's a wonder people stay long enough to figure out there are alternatives. I just found https://steempeak.com/ this week the notifications on the site are just amazing....
Nerds, anti-establishment, artists, writers, and social butterflies, that's our steem world, but I like it.

For now anyway. I think that after hardfork 20 when it's easier to join and a good social media front end we could see a big increase in active users on the site. People are being so restricted on the main sites that there is a huge opportunity to convert them to something new.
I can understand removing certain content from sites but things are getting so restrictive across the board that a lot of people aren't happy. Humans aren't pc by nature, especially where i come from so it's hard not to get frustrated when it's being pushed down our throat.

It is definitely set for growth. I think provisioning users is a big deal. It took a month to get my id, and by that time I had lost a bit of interest. I actually thought if it takes a month the company is crap and will not be any kind of player in the market. I've invited friends who basically experienced the same, gung ho for a week and then three weeks later when they get it, they are already done.

I've had the exact same problem with a few friends that i convinced to join. /by the time they got in they were kind of sick of the site already. No other site takes that long to join. Most take 5 minutes.

lol, I guess that's why it's still in a beta form. I'm working with a blockchain group that I'm afraid is going to have the same problem. They want to design the backbone/structure and market that, but they are finding it necessary to develop a simple version of a dApp so people can see what is possible. I think that was the original thought behind steemit, it was supposed to just be an example. They were not expecting everyone to stick with it so much.

I would like to thank @mariannewest for the many things she has done for me, for my son @bxlphabet, and for hundreds of other steemers.

Marianne runs #freewrite and helps minnows get started here. Her daily prompt post is so helpful to get people posting when they do not know what they are doing here yet or even how to post. She runs contests, gives sbi shares, started freewritehouse, and a few discord channels. Her every post is packed with help for us and I find out about contests, giveaways and other good places to go whenever I read one of them.

On a personal level, Marianne has taken my steemit money to my son before I could figure out how to get it out of here and onto an exchange. She is a homesteader and has also given him a lot of healthy food over the last months. She also organizes meetups in San Diego and has gone out of her way to take my son to them.

I really do not know where I would be without Marianne's friendship and help. Steemit is very lucky to have her and I am grateful to count her as a friend.

@mariannewest is an awesome choice and truly a blessing to the steemit community. Just from comments in my contests, I can tell she has a big heart and a wonderful spirit. She does help out a lot of people, plus those daily chicken pics are awesome. I haven't tried any of her freewrites, I'm not really a great writer, but I see a lot of great content coming from those who participate.

That's the beauty of freewrite - no judging! You should try it a few times and find out how talented you are :)

I have a few talents, but in general, writing is not typically one of them. I'm not bad on technical writing, but I struggle with making it overly complex.

Nice contest.
It gives us chance of expressing our gratitude to our supporters
I will like to thank @crypto.piotr.
He has always be there to support my post.
He is a really nice and good friend to me.

Awe man that is a super choice. He seems like my kind of guy, loves crypto, AI, Blockchain, and he has several insightful posts on those subjects. It is really a great pic.

I would like to nominate @the-witty-waiter for his witty comments.

@coinsandchains I have nominated you for the COM 27 contest. You can see your nomination here. I am not sure if its something your interesting in but if you create an entry let me know so I can check it out.

@the-witty-waiter is an awesome choice, and he's hilarious. I just read through his gratitude blog, funny and heartfelt awesome post.
Great, now I've got to figure out how to write another post this week. Plus I'm really not that funny. I may have to make it a punny post, those work as well right?... That reminds me I forgot to check punday monday.....

@the-witty-waiter is certainly funny. We have traded wit in the comment section a time or two.

The COM 27 contest is over in 2 or 3 days so that gives you a couple days to come up with something. Punny post / gifs / meme / videos ... just about anything counts.

¡Hola @coinsandchains! me gustaria nominar a @macoolette, es una persona muy activa, con unos comentarios y sugerencias muy buenas, cariños y besos para las dos.
Mi entrada.
https://steemit.com/spanish/@celinavisaez/comentarios-para-macoolette

@celinavisaez ella es una gran entrada. La veo en el concurso PayItForward una muy activa
Yo comento tu publicación. gran trabajo

Solo puedo decir gracias! 🙇

AH! I'm behind on entering contests this week!

Well, even though we're late, I gotta thank @doctorcrypto. He sent me Ghost Pepper Salt... I didn't already thank him did I? I mean, I did, but like, to him.
I'm tired.

The point is, he was like, "here's a fellow who would be made happier with Ghost Pepper Salt." and then he, like, sent it. Like, that's what nice people do.

I AM tired. But also, like, he's a good guy.

Better late than never. Ghost pepper salt.... ouch.... feel dhat burn.
I've seen @doctorcrypto around quite a bit, he seems like a pretty funny guy.
I'll keep it short tonight, I think you're tired...... BTW just posted next weeks contest as well.

You're Welcome buddy!

:)

@coinsandchains
Though choices are need to be made. So many people I could nominate but because the price is an SBI share I will go for someone who is actively posting.
My nomination goes out to @costanza. He made me open my eyes that it is better to post about your passion then about a topic which gets lots of interest. This is what kept me a board on Steemit. So he saved a soul from the burn charts!
He also did set up the sports betting community and has an @upvoteshares project started, which could be compared to SBI.
I do want to thank him for keeping me on board and his continuous support for me and the community!
He is also not shy to hand out some free delegations for new steemians who do have bandwidth problems.
Cheers,
Peter

Awesome choice Peter, I checked out the @upvoteshares and it looks pretty cool, and is similar to the SBI. Judging from his posts, I bet he really likes you. Not much of a betting man myself, I have too much of a competitive/OCD streak. I've never actually done any betting at a casino or track, or really anywhere. I could already see my weakness there, so it's better for me to stay away.

We all have our hobbies. And it is good that we all have diverse hobbies.
For me betting is the hobby, but the biggest bets I do place are at the moment around $2.5. I did create a betting plan for myself and at the moment I do follow it! Hope that I can continue this, because I really want to make a profit this year for once :)
Cheers,
Peter

I would like to thank @dreamryder007. I think he's inactive now but I used join and win the contests that he used to host. Thank you so much sir for helping me grow my account!

Thank you for hosting these contests!!!!

I followed him as well. I don't know if he's coming back, he ran afoul of a few of the whales with the Byteball fiasco.

Yeah that's true though
