Steem Basic Income Giveaway: Irrational Fears...

in #contest5 years ago

Sigh... what I've learnt from last week's Butter post is that STEEM appears to be full of extremist wrong side cracker butter-rers who believe in all manner of conspiracy theories like cracker sandwiches.... I will take comfort in the fact that all of these people who butter their crackers wrongly are just a vocal minority, and that the silent majority actually just agree with me.

So, on to a less controversial topic this week (well, there was no controversy... everyone else was mostly wrong...).... my toddler is currently scared of everything... and I really mean everything. Some are normal fears, like the dark or of a cannon being ignited and blasting about 10 metres away from her (it's not a daily occurrence and there is a reason for that...)... others, are a little bit strange... like her current fear of pizzas (don't ask, no idea...) and ants!

Combined with a post from @simplymike that I recently read... I have stumbled upon the question that I want to ask this week!

My Question

  1. What is a completely irrational fear that you have? Any idea why you are scared of it?

My sample answer

Source

Sunflowers... I have a weird aversion to these "sunny" plants. I'm not really sure why... they have thick hairy stalks, multiple "eyes", they have fields which move together to follow the Sun. All of these things are really a recipe for a horror movie of some sort. Now, I'm not going to run screaming out of a room if I see one, but I do feel a little bit uneasy... we did have two of them in our garden a year or two back.. and over summer they grew like crazy... which made them even more menacing when their were roughly the same size as me.

I can imagine that being dropped into a field of fully grown sunflowers would be one of my ultimate nightmares... the sort where the police find your half eaten corpse surrounded by a field of nonchalant sunflowers... and no one would ever suspect the intelligent and malevolent powers that are lurking within the sunflowers.

Rules

  1. Upvote if you want, it increases the payout and then I can hopefully sponsor more people.
  2. Resteem is NOT neccessary, but the more people see this, the more the people will be likely to be sponsored.
  3. In the comments, answer as best as you can the questions that are posed in the "My Questions"!
  4. I have added a small Steem-Bounty to the post, so that everyone who replies with a valid entry will get something back. If I give your post a small upvote, it is valid (also, subscribe to @dustsweeper for maximum benefit!).
  5. I will be sponsoring as many people as this post pays out in liquid SBD/STEEM. Also I will kick in at least the required amount to round up to the full number. Winner is by random generator after a shortlisting of quality comments!

Steem Basic Income

One of the first communities that I came in contact with at the beginning of my time at Steemit was @steembasicincome. As a author starting out on your fresh new Steemit account, Steemit can be a daunting and lonely place to be. OFten, it can feel like you are posting into an abyss with no one listening and with no ability to grow out of the situation. A share of Steem Basic Income gives you a guaranteed vote on one post a day, thus giving you a small but over time cumulative support to your account to help grow you out of your initial wilderness!

With this post, I want to help sponsor people who might not even have the spare 1 STEEM that is required for registration. So, when this post pays out, I will sponsor people depending on the payout of this post. Basically, I will round up the SBD payout from this post and then that will be the number of people I will sponsor. (So, if the payout is 2.3 SBD, I will sponsor 3 people). OF course, this is not simply an altruistic move, as the sponsor of a Steem Basic Income share also gets a share, so it is a great way to help others whilst helping yourself!

Last week's winners

The last post paid out 0 SBD and 2.912 STEEM in liquid earnings. So, that would make 3 shares.

The winners by random draw are:

@lilacse

@quantumdeveloper

@ecoinstar

plus a special bonus prize for @papilloncharity for their poem!

Now I get the sunflower remark :0)

Irrational fears... do you have an hour or two? lol.
I have truckloads.

Let's stick to a couple of fairly innocent ones....

You say fear in the dark is normal, but there's nothing normal about the panic attacks that I get in the dark. Doesn't matter if I'm in a forest or my own hallway or bedroom... I can try to rationalize there's nothing to be afraid of, but it never works. Panic takes over, and I'm lost.

Same thing with spiders. As you know, we don't have any real, creepy spiders here in Belgium. Biggest ones are what? 7cm or so? And completely innocent. It's not like they can hurt me in any way. I know that, still I completely freak out when I see even the smallest one. I guess I'm arachnophobic, because I can't even watch them on TV. Brrr! Even just thinking about them gives me the creeps.

See... sunflowers are evil!

Dark is something a little bit unsettling.. I get weirded out when I'm a new place (hotels.... on tour...)... I will wake in the middle of the night, find myself in an unfamiliar place... and just lie there... scared!

Anyway, spiders in Europe... I'm not at all scared of... but in Australia... not at all fond of them!

Me when my anxiety takes over: 5. 4. 3. 2. 1. 0. -1. -2. -3.

Haha... although, probably not so much fun!

Don't know if the is a valid point, but I'm afraid of talking to girls first. When they talk first, we can have a conversation, but not until then

Ha... that's completely rational! Girls are a dangerous breed of humans...

All of my fears are completely rational. 😉
🤣😂😂

Yep, it is all the other people that are completely nuts!

I believe that all my fears are completely rational, although I guess, if any of them is irrational, I wouldn't realize it and I would need a professional's analysis to point it out.

Heh... quite a few people have decided on a similar thing... everyone else is crazy!

@bengy, In my opinion i don't drive much because i don't have much confidence on others who drive, may be i can call it my Irrational Fear.

Hmmm... I can imagine that... as the woman from The Great Gatsby said (paraphrased...), it takes two bad drivers to have an accident.... so she was convinced that she could be one... and hope that she didn't come across another.

Ha ha 😁 🤣

Afraid of not achieving my dream as a football player

IT's a big dream... but only if you want to reach the very very top! If you only want to play football, then it is quite an achievable goal (haha...).
