As Steemit grows with more users and more content, it's getting easier to meet others from the platform in the flesh. There are now regular meetups in Germany, Ireland, The UK, Venezuela, The Philippines, Malaysia, Nigeria, Korea and the US.

I am a little late this month, due to Steemfest, but I will update this post each month to show how the community is growing around the globe. There could have been a French meetup, I am sure I am missing ones from non English Speaking countries, come to think of it probably missing lots from English speaking ones too.
That's an increase of (counted) meetups from 32 in September to 51 in October. To the moon! :-P
Lots of activity in October some really strong communities are beginning to form and I am seeing more and more meetup.com groups. That will bring in lots of new people.

I am very happy. I try to introduce steemit in my city, as well as guide and teach new steemit users in our city. Describes the usefulness of features in steemit. I'm a little confused. What's the point of these meetups exactly?
I have found the people I have met are very friendly, interesting and I have a lot in common with them. All the meetups that I have attended have been great fun too.
Well I didn't see LA on there, and I'm surprised. If we got some big celebrities on steemit to promote it, more traffic would be drawn to it.
But more importantly, crypto currencies would be more well known, speeding up the decline of the dollar and other bank run currencies, which would bring us closer to a world beyond the need for money, forced labor, property, or coercion or any kind. And humanity could establish equilibrium with its environment, bringing an end to the so far consistent destruction of the environment.
It's all about the evolution of the collective human consciousness, and loss of faith in the monetary system is something humanity needs to go through.

There are a lot of people, myself included, that would like to see this gather pace. I go back and forth on how quickly I want to see this get out there. Slow and steady and the plan is we will build up momentum.
At Steemfest in Lisbon two weeks ago, the Devs gave us a peak behind the veil at the level of performance of the underlying tech. It blows any other blockchain out of the water. So much has been accomplished in the last year and a half and the stage is set for influencers to take a look. Check out the @appics account for one such example that is coming soon.
