Comedy Turned Educational: Sugarcoating the bitter Truth and shoving it down people's throats is the Highest Form of Fun

I'm sure you all have seen tings like Honest Trailers, Honest Game Trailers, Honest Anime Trailers, Honest Ads etc. They are mostly just trying to make fun of or just attack whatever they pick as their topic. I've always been a huge fan of the quote "A poem begins in delight but ends in wisdom." by Robert Frost. So I was wondering if there were any comedic ads that try to get down to a more psychological/structural analysis level instead of just going to some absurd levels.

Above is easily one of the best honest ads I've seen. Sure it's funny. but it's still taking a Reductio ad absurdum route. There is a clear attempt to make things funny. As for an allegory, I could say it is like slapstick humor. I've come to notice that deadpan/dry/witty humor and black comedy is severely undeserved these days. I mean we are not really getting Blackadder these days. At least we have Black Mirror and I'm loving it.

These are the moments that makes me miss the 80s although I wasn't even alive at the time. These comedy are actually more relevant today than the 80s because they are based on rock solid socially and psychologically correct analysis. That's what I thought when I came across this clip from https://dissolve.com that sell stock footage. The comedy comes more from the accuracy than the absurdity. In fact there is nothing absurd about it. It's more like a lighthearted presentation of what's probably going through the discussions of psychologists and neurologists involved in the production of these ads.

After all such things are to be expected when many ads end up costing more than indie movies or Television episodes.

The ending is a little dark but it's accurate. Personally I'd like to see more of these videos. You can only make them once as there is just one breakdown you can do and even if you get very creative, you can only present it in so many different ways. This is a breakdown of a Presidential Campaign Ad and it's downright educational.

When you understand things better, you are less affected by them. That understanding also expands the horizons of your ind. It develops your insight. comedic touch is the best sugar coating for hard truths. It can keep people's denial at bay.
