ColorChallenge MondayRed -- Desert rose / Chuam chom in Thai --

G'day and hello to everybody. First I wish you all a very good start into the new week.Hope you all had a fantastic weekend.
Adenium obesum,also called desert rose,Bangkok calachuce or Impala lily.
There are between 5-10 different species.They are native to Africa.

Desert rose is a striking plant with a thick or swollen trunk and popular as a houseplant,or even kept as a Bonsai.

Be cautious,desert rose belongs to the dogbane family,with many of these species bleeding a poisonous sap that can irritate your skin,if you get in contact with.
The sap is used as arrow poison throughout Africa for hunting big game.
In some African countries,it gets used as traditional medicine or even used in magic potions.
Well,I would certainly not drink it,whatsoever.....

you can have them as a bonsai,if this one on the picture really classify as a bonsai,im not sure.it looks as it has been in a small pot for a while...so in this case,maybe a big bonsai,but dont take my word for granted.
if you plant them in the ground,or in a big pot they can grow like a shrub and up to 2-3meters high

they are aint they...ive seen them all over the place in Kununurra as well.
a good friend of mine grew them from the seeds in KNX.
a more rare color is white and red,kinda pink is standard.
