Coinbase Horror Story. Help!
I figured people here may have experience in this area.
EDIT: Found a solution thanks to @kkugel2 explaining how to use jaxx to my crypto-illiterate self. Be careful with Coinbase. Maybe read the comments for ideas for better wallets. I don't think I will use coinbase anymore after this experience.
So from the beginning... what happened is I accidentally put to buy BTC instead of sell causing my card to get frozen. I spent literally MONTHS emailing coinbase before being told it was supposedly fixed and all I have to do is remove the card and re-add it. I didn't get around to this for awhile as it wasn't a priority but today I wanted to add it. It told me that I can't due to the past failed transactions.
So, now I can't even access my etherium or lite coin to sell them and get BTC. I am trying to buy a new PC from newegg with bitchoin and have JUST enough in my wallet which took me a long time to save up. But now it tells me I must add a payment method to even sell. I tried to add my paypal card and not only did it not work but paypal froze my card and I had to call to get it working again. Frustrating.
So, I am like okay, I will just add paypal! I take pics of my ID front and back and upload them. I verify my paypal. It is added to my payment methods. sigh of relief Go to buy/sell....um what? It asks me to add a payment method. At this point I am out of options. Wrote Coinbase twice but from past experience it is literally the WORST customer service ever and to my knowledge they have no phone number.
I am not sure what I am expecting. Maybe someone with a super secret number or better email? Or someone who had this issue and got it to work? Word of caution though never, EVER accidentally hit buy. You may be sitting there 9 months later still unable to add payment to your account.
I have been having to transfer money from coinbase to virwox to even spend my SBD earnings and then HUGE fees are taken out. So, I am also losing a lot of money over this issue. If nothing else this can be a word of caution to people signing up for coinbase.

It just occurred to me this may have been better to ask in a Steemit related chat but I already typed it out in my rage and posted it.
What happens when they flood the market with all that "free" ETH though? It's ETH that coinbase has probably held for a long time, so they probably aren't really losing any money; but if I just had the scare of my life by losing a huge investment, and then found out they were going to cover my mistake, I might withdraw some or all that money and put it somewhere safe. If even 10% of the ETH that Coinbase gives back (really, gives away) is sold, it could bring down the whole market - and all the people who didn't have risky margin trades will lose out for doing nothing wrong. And what if it's 20% or 50%?it actually penalizes those of us who didn't put in risk margin trades or stop loss orders.
I'm not sure how this pertains to my situation. I just bought a bit of eth and want to access it? I don't actually know much about crypto I just know I want my money so I can buy this PC. lol
The Jaxx wallet is amazingly easy to Shapeshift with. Buy the PC with bitcoin and save on bank fees.
I am buying it with BTC but some of the money in my wallet is ETH, just $100 of it so I wanted to turn that into BTC. I am buying it on newegg because I can use BTC. :)
ps -Not trying to be rude that just literally all went over my head and I have no idea how it pertains to my post. :)

Oh I updated the top of the post. XD Someone in the comments helped me figure out how to move the ETH over to jaxx and shapeshift it to BTC. Then I sent it BACK to coinbase and was able to buy my new PC and monitor with my BTC from newegg!!! :D

Glad to hear that...I just made a withdraw of around 50 euros from kraken (for the sake of test..but it's not like I have a lot of cryptos besides those 50 euro lmao) since I haven't been into crypto for the last 2 years.....not a single problem... I just have to wait till my bank confirms the transaction...

yes, you send it directly... You need the IBAN code and the SWIFT code of your bank. Until now everything was lightning fast (which actually surprised me).
Oh, and they require verification but then again, it surprised me... It was not a pain in the ass, just the usual documents.

I'm having a similar problem, wherein I'm unable to purchase any amount of BTC, ETH, or LTC because I supposedly "haven't validated my ID yet". Once I go through the process of validating my ID for 10,000th time, it simply sends me back to the home page and nothing has changed!
It was working just fine a week ago! Needless to say, the Coinbase support team has offered none what-so-ever after several attempts to reach out to them.

Ugh at least we can rage together. Fucking coinbase is the worst customer service... I can't even believe how bad it is. I am pissed because I already bought the fucking ETH and everything was fine and I followed their moronic instructions and now am just stuck unable to access my own fucking ETH. >:( God. If I fix this ever I need to reconsider my crypto keeping options.
I experienced that too once. Precious Metals perhaps. And Go Steem.
I send by Coinbase BTC to Mycelium or Jaxx and just spend it if I need it. Gyft has a number of options and Newegg accepts BTC for most purchases. Coinbase has a "Wallet" in the dashboard and the Jaxx wallet has Shapeshift onboard.
Most of the money I have in BTC but theres like $100 in ETH that I want to be BTC.
Shapeshift basically "jumps" the funds from one blockchain platform to another. I'm using Dash for spending now, it's most like an actual currency. The Jaxx wallet can receive your ETH from Coinbase and convert it to Bitcoin. It appears to "disappear" for a time, so don't flip out.....like I did.🤤

You cannot purchase Crypto with Jaxx, but it is a multi-currency wallet and has Shapeshift on board. Shapeshift is really genius and Jaxx is the first to have it as a feature. Trade with yourself, as soon as a new coin hits Shapeshift.io it is worth investing in general.
Oh I see. :) Any idea for what to use to replace coinbase entirely since I can't use it because they wont let me add any payment method? haha I think someone mentioned other wallets. I will go reread comments now that I am less furious.
Shapeshift does seem genius!! I will definitely keep jaxx and at least it helped me be able to access my ETH. I could sent it back to coinbase as BTC if I wanted just to have enough to buy the PC and monitor and then just look into options for changing my wallet. :)
There are ATMs in my city, but the exchange rate is high. I have not used Kraken, but I am told they accept USD from a credit card. Coinbase really has the market cornered as far as I know. I usually swap cash for BTC straight up with anyone I know in Baltimore MD. People are the best way to get BTC in my opinion, but I only meetup during daylight hours at a local police station.
Yeah I am like super disabled in a city where I know nobody with no car haha so not the best option for me. Damnit coinbase. How do they have the market cornered when they won't even friggin fix this for me so I can buy? ARGH

Up to 4 hours. I sent a few grand in ETH to LTC the first time......not in tears, but I was sweating pretty hard for a while. Also, you have to back out and "close" the wallet, then reopen it to update it. Still, a solid product.
Yeah I found the PC I need on newegg and plan to spend BTC. The problem is I can't get the ETH out. It won't let me send ETH and I cant turn in into BTC on coinbase because they won't let me sell. XD
Also @pastbastard and @radagast are real life cryptocurrency wizards.....
I signed up and have a jaxx wallet and it seems super cool but can't see how to get my eth from coinbase still. I will try googling it.
Hm...it only let's me send BTC or USD even though I have ETH...
Go to settings and add eth. Add every type of crypto they have! I did.

Coinbase are a bunch of crooks who manipulate the market in a way they see fit. I wrote an article about how Bitcoin fell recently 10%, and they locked everyone out due to "maintenance issues". I wasnt able to access my ethereum for about 3 days losing a few hundred dollars in value. BASTURDSS
These outages do appear to happen at certain times.....
This has been an ongoing issue for 9 months.

Sorry you had this problem. I tried to open an account with Coinbase but they refused, saying they don't have service in my area. I have heard good things about Kraken. You can use that together with Jaxx. Good luck lauralemons!
