Unlocking the Power of Chrome: Issue 37

in #chrome6 years ago

Thanks for coming back to another great issue of Unlocking the Power of Chrome.

As I continue striving to bring you the best quality extensions possible, it is starting to get a little harder to find good ones.

Don't worry though, I don't plan on quitting on you. I believe there are plenty of other great extensions out there for me to highlight. I just need to find them.

The extension I am going to talk about today handles something that I am very passionate about. I hope as you get using it, you will get excited as well.

If you haven't figured it out already, I am a huge Google fan. They continue to impress me with their constant innovations and how they actively listen to and integrate user feedback to make their products better.

When it comes to productivity, one of my favorite tools by Google is GSuite (formerly Google Apps). I use the programs inside of GSuite every day both at work and at home.

It is actually very rare anymore that I even open Microsoft Word or Excel unless I have a very specific thing I need to do within them. Google Docs and Google Sheets have become my go-to productivity tools.

Google Docs Quick Create

The extension I am going to cover today is called Google Docs Quick Create and you can add it to your browser via the Chrome Webstore here.

The developer has a page on Github here.

Basically, this extension allows you to open a new document without having to launch the GSuite window first. It is pretty simple and very easy to use.

If you don't have a Gmail account you need one to use this extension and I really recommend you get one anyway. It wil open a whole new world of tools and treasures for you.

The GSuite apps aren't an exact replacement for the Microsoft Office Suite, but I think it will do about 90% of the stuff most people need to do, and once you switch, you will probably never look back!

I've been using Google Docs because of my part-time job and it is easy to use and you don't worry when the browser closes because it automatically types in what you worked on.

As far as using the extension that one I didn't know. :) thanks for sharing this!

I love Google docs. My wife also uses it everyday. One thing to keep in mind... If you keep anything sensitive in Google Docs you should turn two factor authentication on for your Gmail account. It can be a nuisance at times but it is more secure.

Thanks for letting me know! Although I have not written something sensitive but this is something that I need to keep in mind. :)

I haven't used MS office in years, but I am pretty familiar with Google Docs. It was such a happy day when Google built a linux version and I could quit using an emulator :)

I'll check this out. Sounds like a good addition and I am not familiar with it. Thank you.

Yeah no problem. Getting my users to switch has been a pain. Part of the reason I use it so much so I can show it is do-able.

Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!
