Unlocking the Power of Chrome: Issue 36

in #chrome6 years ago

I think Spring is finally here. It looks like we have some nice weather lined up for the next couple of days. At least where I live we do.

Thanks for stopping in for another issue of Unlocking the Power of Chrome. It has been my honor to bring you a new Google Chrome extension every two days.

If you have an extension you use every day that you think I should cover in one of my issues, please leave me a comment.

If I haven't highlighted that extension already, I will do my best to fit it into a future issue.

Flat

The extension I am going to cover today is called Flat. You can add it to your browser from the Chrome Webstore here.

The develoer of the app has a website you can visit here.

Let me be pretty clear here, I am not a musician. I wish I was, I bought a guitar years ago with every intention of learning how to play, but then I started playing WoW and that pretty much took up all of my free time.

I do know that there are lots of users on Steemit that are musicians though.

Flat is an extension for Chrome that allows creation, editing, and sharing of music score documents from within your browser.

This extension is very powerful and has many great features. I will bullet point a few of them below.

- Composition with MIDI devices

- Support of many different audio file formats

- Percussion instruments and notation

- Online digital and visual metronome

- Integrates with Google Hangouts for collaboration

If you are a musician and you do a lot with music, you should check out the Flat Chrome extension. It might be a handy tool to add to your toolbox.

This is something I could use from time to time. I've always wondered how you'd share musical notation, without copy/pasting everything from obscure documents.

It looks like it has a lot of potential and I know that a lot of music teachers have started to use it in the education space.

Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!

You can see your post's place along the track here: The Daily Whistle Stops, Issue #118 (4/28/18)

The STEEM Engine is an initiative dedicated to promoting meaningful engagement across Steemit. Find out more about us and join us today.

I knew chrome had a lot of extensions, but I did realize they went into the music composition realm. I'll have to take a closer look at extensions again.

Glad I could shine a light on one of them for you.
