Unlocking the Power of Chrome: Issue 32

in #chrome6 years ago

Happy Friday! I am so glad that we could all meet again for another issue of Unlocking the Power of Chrome.

Please remember if you have a Chrome extension that you think I should highlight in this series, leave me a comment.

If I cover the extension that you suggest, I will make it worth your while with an upvote, resteem, follow, and shout-out.

Feedback for this series has been great, but I still don't feel like it is reaching all of the users that it could. If you like what you are seeing here don't forget to resteem and share with your friends who are using Chrome and might need a "Powerup".

Google Translate

The extension that I am going to cover today is called Google Translate.

You can add it to your browser by visiting the Chrome Webstore here.

The developer also has a webpage that you can visit here.

Many of you are probably already familiar with the Google Translate service as a whole. It has been around for quite some time and they have been constantly improving upon it.

The key benefit of having the extension installed is that you now have quick right-click access to a word or phrase translation. No longer do you have to visit the Google Translate page linked above and copy then paste the text you want to be translated.

Likewise, if you want to translate the whole page you are viewing, you can just click on the Google Translate icon in the extensions bar at the top of your browser.

If you frequently find yourself viewing text that needs to be translated, this extension might be just what you need.

Thanks for stopping in again. You can see past issues of Unlocking the Power of Chrome here:

That's funny, I use Google Translate all the time… but never the extension. Could be a great tool to my arsenal!

Great! I hope maybe this speeds things up a little for you!

@bozz! You're still at it with these awesome posts that dive into the finer parts of Chrome!! Thanks so much for sharing, I always enjoy opening up this blog and seeing what you have to teach me today! Keep up the great work, mi amigo!

Thank you for the kind words. I am glad to give you something to look forward to! I will do my best to keep them coming for you and the other readers!

Thanks for sharing

No problem! Thanks for the comment!

This is great! I have used Google translate but I didn't know about the chrome extension. This will make life easier on the web when I come across a new language as unfortunately I only speak fluent English (and then tiny bits and pieces of other languages!!)

Excellent. I am glad I was able to present something that might be helpful to you. Thanks for the comment!

I knew what it was once I saw the logo! Google translate has been... well, not a best friend, because it did let me down a couple of times, but it's still a good friend :D

That sounds about right for a friend. Ups and Downs, but always there for you in the end! Thanks for the comment.

Definitely an often overlooked extension, it's getting better and better I must say.

For sure! Totally something that comes in handy when you are browsing the posts from all over the world on Steemit.

Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!

You can see your post's place along the track here: The Daily Whistle Stops, Issue #106 (4/16/18)

The STEEM Engine is an initiative dedicated to promoting meaningful engagement across Steemit. Find out more about us and join us today.

I use this thing every single day, it is not a very good solution ( accurate solution) for many languages but it does what it suppose to, it gives me a glimpse at the meaning of the certain words, or helps me to get the right word when I can't remember.

Languages are so complex and nuanced that it will probably take years to get it totally right. I agree though, it does a passable job and is getting better every day.
