Mans Question #67
Can you repent and believe in Christ by your own power???
Answer
- No, I cannot repent and believe in Christ without the help of God's Holy Spirit.
John 3:5-6;
5.Jesus answered, "Most assuredly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he can't enter into the Kingdom of God!
6.That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. Don't marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born anew.'
John 16:7-11
7.Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don't go away, the Counselor won't come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you."
8.When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;
9.about sin, because they don't believe in me;
10.about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you won't see me any more;
11.about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.
I Corinthians 2:9-12
9.For it is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain." Is it for the oxen that God cares,
10.or does he say it assuredly for our sake? Yes, it was written for our sake, because he who plows ought to plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should partake of his hope.
11.If we sowed to you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we reap your fleshly things?
12.If others partake of this right over you, don't we yet more? Nevertheless we did not use this right, but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ.
Titus 3:5
5.I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that were lacking, and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you;
