Huangyao Ancient Town
"Ancient cities" are big business in China - often being restored from what was once little more than just a pile of rubble. Huangyao is a fairly thorough restoration, while still remaining true to its "primitive simplicity".
It is located in Guangxi province, about 150 km from Yangshuo, near the town of Hezhou, and not far from Guangdong province.

The tree is over 800 years old, according to Tour-Beijing.com, while the town itself is over one thousand years old.

I have too many pictures remaining for one post, so I'll post a few here and come back to it another time.
There were troops of photographers there that day - almost as many REAL cameras as cellphones. There was lots of local liquor on sale, including at the shop on the left with the big jugs.
