Taking the Hospital Kids for the Lion King Movie
This time we were planning to do something different with the kids at the hospital, so we thought we will see if we can work out for the Lion King Movie special show for them, since it is a favorite one with all the children. At the very first thought almost everyone rejected saying it would not be feasible. Then we thought ok, let's give it a try. But first we wanted to understand if the kids would be keen for such a plan, when we checked with them, they were more then excited. We decided, let's put in our best efforts to make this happen.
The next step was to check with the hospital staff and the Doctor if any such thing could be possible. They were first taken back and they said till date they have never ever had such a request or tried something like this. But the staff and the Doctor's were very cooperative, they mentioned since all the kids will be happy with something like this let's try it out. We started feeling very hopeful.
The Doctor then went ahead and examined all the Children and gave a go ahead for most of them leaving aside 3 Children as their condition was not good enough to leave the Hospital even for few hours. So we had a total go ahead from the Doctor for 15 Children, that was like a big number for us, specially with their condition. Along with the Doctor's go ahead we also consulted their parents, if they would be ok for this plan. They were also instantly willing, so we had all paths cleared. We decided that each child will have one of their parent accompanying them and also we will have 2 Nurses coming along with us for safety.

The next was then working out for the movie show, as we wanted an exclusive screening only for the Children at an hour that there would not be many people in the place. We spoke to the Manager at the Movie Hall, they were also quiet amused with our plan, they had never done such a thing. They were very kind, they agreed to do a free screening for the Children. This was a joy for all of us. It is so rightly said that if you desire something the whole universe conspires to get it for you. We could see everything falling in place. With the movie we arranged for some snacks that would be suitable for the children, so Sandwiches and fresh juice was arranged.
Finally it was decided that we will have a 09:30 A.M. show for them, we could not have it for a later time as then there would be more people around in the mall and that would be uncomfortable for the children.
On Thursday morning by 08:00 we reached the hospital, and helped the Children get ready. The bus was planned to leave at 09:00, but due to some issues we could only leave at 09:30, the Manager at the movie hall was kind enough to accommodate our late coming. The Movie hall was not very far, we reached there by 09:45 and then everyone got settled in the hall. The guys there served the snacks and all the kids had a wonderful time watching the movie. The parents were also very happy watching their children enjoy. It is difficult for them to see their children going through the pain of battling with cancer, they need to face it, but these little moments of joy can temporarily make them forget the pain. Around 11:30 the movie finished and we had to take them back to the hospital.
Those little smiling faces meant the world. All of them were in such joyful state that looking at them we also felt elevated. Specially the Parents were the most happiest ones I could see. Such a beautiful morning it was, I am still thinking of it and have a smile on my face.
When we dropped them back to the hospital, the Head Sister over there immediately asked us, so what's next?
Our group is not sure of what next but yes we continue our visits and spending time with them and will think over how we can make our meeting more meaningful and special with them.
Do you believe in Magic? I strongly believe that there is magic happening all the time around us. This whole experience was not less than a Magic for us.
For me I will be travelling to India next week for around a month, it will be a month break from the Hospital visits. I will miss my little kiddos.
