June 30 Days Writing Challenge - Life Hack - Day Twenty Three: Anticipate Negativity To Turn It Positively
Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.
This is one of my mantras in life. I used to be a super positive person and I used to think that it is ok to be like that. I mean what’s wrong with being positive? Positivity is good right? It turns out, I was wrong. Too much of anything is harmful. Whether you are expecting a smooth sailing presentation or expecting to get in a flight on time, there can be mishaps along the way. Some situation happen to us without warning.
For example, you will be going to fly in the afternoon. Don't be too relax and go to the airport two hours before your flight. To be on the safe side, you should head to the airport 4 hours before your departure time. Why? Well because there may be a traffic jam along the way or you might encounter small delays that are why you need an ample time to prepare for your flight.
This mantra can enhance your decision-making and analyzation. You anticipate the worst things that could happen on your endeavor but reminder to not go overboard. Don’t overthink things and stick to reality. Will your plane really crash? There is a .000001% that it will so don’t be too stump about it. This is simply sticking to reality so you already think of different realistic scenarios with solutions.
Here are some quotes to start you with:
In this world you've just got to hope for the best and prepare for the worst and take whatever God sends.
- Lucy Maud Montgomery
Don't forget to also take and accept what God gives to you.
there's no harm in hoping for the best as long as you're prepared for the worst.
- Stephen King
This is what I'm saying. I totally agree with Stephen King.
Be a balanced optimist. Nobody is suggesting that you become an oblivious Pollyanna, pretending that nothing bad can or ever will happen. Doing so can lead to poor decisions and invites people to take advantage of you. Instead, be a rational optimist who takes the good with the bad, in hopes of the good ultimately outweighing the bad, and with the understanding that being pessimistic about everything accomplishes nothing. Prepare for the worst but hope for the best - the former makes you sensible, and the latter makes you an optimist.
- Dale Carnegie
It's okay to think positive as long as you are still aware of the reality.
