Coin Base

Dunno if this is the place...but here goes.
I'm transferring (minuscule) amounts of money to CoinBase.
The way it's working for me is that I transform steem dollars at bittrex then send them to CoinBase.
Well I was wondering about changing some of that into lite coin and Etherum...

Do I have to convert to USD first?
...then rebuy/sell to either Etherum or LiteCoin?

Seems like the fee's would kinda add up huh?

Sort:

lololol you dont ALWAYS have to assume youre talking to a computer hacker online!

Just video chat someone! if someone doesnt want to video chat you or talk over the phone with a regular phone number you can assume their a scammer.

real people have IDs, social security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, facebook accounts,

yeah ii hope we can create anti scam forces, and make them like a real global police force, i want scammers to pay, i want people tp think twice before doing these crimes, i want scammers around the world to have examples made of them, so there is a fear of god put into people. So thatthey know its not like something you can do that has no effect onyou, that peple will eventually find you and make you pay !
(lol u can probobly tell I too have been made a victim of scamming, Identity theft, Paypal and Google wallet ChargeBack ScamTheft)

Anyone here remember Egold HYIPs (High Yield Investment Programs)? And the Egoldforums which basicallly became the BTC Talk forums? Just a bunch of people looking for ANY sprt opf global online money system they could use to move money around the world anonymously and fast!

Egold could have gone in and stopped those theives because it was centralized so im glad they got shut down, fuckin pieces of shit, allowing tons of people to get their egold scammed, and refusing to go into their own centralized system to reverse fraudulent payments!

Anyway Bitcoin came out and all those HYIP scam people found an amazing new tool which they could use to scam people!

and now that crypto currency prices are rising so fast and people are legitimately making money very quickly, many many thieves and scammers create websites offering daily rewards, I see tons of people advertising these scams all over the place especially in local telegram chats

If you send it to bittrex than you directly buy LTC from that.

If you want to buy USD with bitcoin let me know, we can do some exchange if you need :)

If you use GDAX, which is an exchange owned by Coinbase, you can convert your Bitcoin directly to Ether or Litecoin for free from BTC by placing a limit buy on the ETH/BTC or LTC/BTC order books.

Edit: However, it would probably be better if you convert your STEEM Dollars to Ethereum or Litecoin first, as they have significantly lower transaction fees compared to Bitcoin. From there you can convert to Bitcoin, Ether, or Litecoin as you wish using GDAX. If you were to use Coinbase, you would have to pay a fee on the buy and sell, which wouldn't be ideal.

my head hurts.

Ok...I looked at GDAX briefly..
it keeps saying 'institutions and professionals'.
I ain't neither.

Let's see if I can try to simplify it:

There's another exchange like Bittrex, called GDAX, that is owned by Coinbase. You can transfer your balance to and from your Coinbase account for no fee straight through GDAX. GDAX charges much lower fees than Coinbase, and lets you convert BTC to either Ether or Litecoin directly, without having to convert it to USD first. So, I'd recommend signing up for GDAX and trading through there. Let me know if there's anything that's unclear!

Edit: It does say it offers institutions and professionals the ability to trade, but you don't necessarily have to be one in order to use it. Your experience with Bittrex should be sufficient :).

AH!...that sounds promising...thank you.

dont send miniscule amounts of bitcoin to coinbase unless your use litecoin or ethereum! bitcoin transaction fees can be as high as $1 now! They actually were down to 30 cents the other day for me, but yeah those transaction fees will eat away at multiple small transactions! And thats not even what im here to talk about sorry I realy go off on tangenst and cotangents

And no dont convert to USD oncoinbase! youre rightthe fees do add up!

youre good NEVER use coinbase to sell it to USD then buy another coin coinbase charges you fucking MASSIVE feeds youll loose 20 percent of your money doing that coinbase sellling to USD then buying another coin!

My dad did that and didnt wanna listen to me, whenI said i could buy him ethereum on bittrex! for cheap! and no he instead sold his one ethereum when ethereum was $200 and fuckin sold it for USD in coinbase, ended up with $190! hah thenhe bought ethereum with it, ended up with $180! fuckinredculous right?

On poloniex or biitrex, I convert bitcoin directly to ethereum and the fee is .1 percent! POINT one percent! so small i cant even count it!

use BITTREX to convert to litecoinor ethereum!

and send that litecoin or ethereum to yoru coinbase if you want, u can sell for dollars there on coinbase

i can tell you have it man! ur a little cautious, but dont worry u have it! feel free to call me WHENEVER you want some help (619) 302 0398

thanks for the offer..but I don't hear so well. I rarely use a telephone.
I'm Slooooooowly figuring it out..
I appreciate all the help.

so...lessee...if I understand you right.
I can convert bitcoin to...almost anything...while on bittrex?
THEN send it to CoinBase (which is the only place I know of to convert to USD so's I can put it in my bank....yeah...yeah...I know...debit card...I've ordered the shift card...don't have it yet)

Bitcoin transaction fee is high as 1$???

It was 2 days ago! last week some people reported fees as high as $16 and I even saw my own wallet ask for a $10 fee that day, it was unsettling...but it shows how solid bitcoin is how peopel will put up with any transaction fee even $100 fee people would stil choose bitcoin to move large amounts because its STILL cheaper than a bank or westernunion or whatever !

But yeah I just senta transaction yesterday and it was 30 cents! HOORAY

I fel like that must be proof that weve already gotten some sort of segregated witness going as i saw we were already at 48 percenta few days ago of user activated soft fork nodes signalling ...

very very high

I paid ? not sure ? US$ 1.32 yesterday; who cares LoL.
I design Bitcoin betting systems that win 99% of the time; who cares how high the fees are when you simply "win" that much and more.
I can find a guaranteed win in between 60 and 99 seconds, this results in US$7 to US$8 profit.
I am happy to pay any fees simply because I want to move my money and I know someone else is going to pay them for me because I will win more than that on my first bet.
I last lost money on 19th December and that was not my fault, a friend panicked over the market and ORDERED me to sell at a loss. Today I no longer tell my friend of what I am trading on, I let them make their own independent decisions :)
You got to love the Internet ;)

Greg :)

Use changegelly you will have to do that or face the onslaught of fee charges going from one exchange to the other. I only hold in coinbase if i need to liquidate assets for emergency use cases.

Excellent thread! I learned a lot from the discussion.

I do Bitcoin 24 hours a day. Well I went from 15 hours a day to 20 hours a day and LoL that is unhealthy . . . Bitcoin will be US$ 4,ooo easily by years end. Selling crypto now is a huge mistake since it is on the cusp of every day adoption.
I have even made arrangements to have other people I know who have jobs pay my 19% Aussie Credit Card for me. After all why should I pay my credit card ? THEY are the ones with jobs, so it is logical they would have the money to pay my Credit Card; I do not work . . .
When these people get confused I simply hand them the control of a crypto account that I already have funded with US$ 1,ooo. Once these people come to understand they now own the most powerful money in human history they are happy to work to pay MY credit card down.
I bought bitcoin December 2016 US$ 750, 03 March Bitcoin = Gold (Parity), May 2017 Bitcoin DOUBLES Gold in price. Two weeks ago the internal Bitcoin Civil War ends. Simply people in central control never ever talk about Bitcoin; once Bitcoin hits US$10,000 there is simply no way to keep that a secret any more. The people behind Bitcoin have one primary aim, revenge upon centralized control of society; Bitcoin is the Thermo-Nuclear Weapon and it has already exploded over some of the planet. From 2013 till 2015 the Governments major fear campaign did a wonderful job of free advertising. Today no one says the B word, not even Obama when he talks of unbreakable encryption.
Bitcoin TARGETING order . . .

  1. Banks, 2) Stock Exchange, 3) Centralized Media, 4) Central Governmental Control, 5) The wealthy they missed on their first major bombing run. LiteCoin exists for smart contracts its primary mission eradication of civil lawyers...

Krap I wish I could write half as good as you, but I am to busy; I invent Bitcoin betting systems that never lose FOR THE MOST VALUABLE MONEY EVER KNOWN IN RECORDED HUMAN HISTORY ! ! !
... and that is why I get other people who have jobs to pay my credit card. Simply to focus them on the Bitcoin message of digital money !
Plus it is kool spending money and knowing someone else is going to pay it off LoL . . .

Got to Love the INTERNET...

thanks for sharing

Here is another thing you can do. Just use bittrex to buy your litecoin and ethereum.
I can walk you throough over the phone just calll me 619 302 0398 and I believe you already have it down if you are able to sell your steem or SBD for bitcoins ad send those bitcoins to coinbase then I know you will also be able to go sell your SBD for bitcoin, and use that bitcoin to buy some litecoinor ethereum, and you can send that to your coinbase, and sell for dollarrs if u need.....in fact to avvoid bitcoin transaction fees you can just use litecion or ethereum to send money from bittrex to coinbase to make sure its fast and cha as bitcoins take forever and cost alot to transfer untill the segwit is activated aug 1st and bitcointransactio fees go down ! (u think the fees have already gone down alot actually)

sorry for my long text answer....i hope u dont assme my long text answer means your solutionwilll be complex...

I'm on the Bittrex site...I have 1.00 steem dollah (left it there as a place holder)
and .00003818 BTC (same reason)

I've got it DOWN bringing in SBD from Steemit then selling for BTC...
then I send it to CoinBase to sell the BTC for USD..then send it to my credit union
It works...I sent $10 to break trail and it got there..

but the fees..

tell me the better way..

this is all new to me.
so bear with me.
I 'step back' and think about it a lot.

Like I said..the phone won't work for me..

Please my friend you be careful, there are now more scams in Bitcoin than across the whole network.

please be doubly careful, this is radically different and billions of people are going to get scammed via bitcoin.

Call me if you want any info anytime; I would prefer you not be like my daughter who just lost well over $2,500. Now I have to get that money back; which annoys me . . .

In the mean time Dear Old Dad is simply putting that much Bitcoin into her account simply so she has less stress...

That's very sad to hear, always use Escrow for payments.

I promise you it is going to be very sad for them as I follow their digital trail through cyberspace...

Oh do you like pretty websites; check this out LoL ;)

http://map.norsecorp.com/#/

Seattle is ground zero Microsoft C&C (command and control, California is Apple, Vermont is IBM and Virginia is a little start-up that has captured 75% of The Pentagon IT markets.

Yes it is going to be very sad for those scammers who took my daughters money . . .

CyberSpace is FULL of Surprises ;)

careful is my middle name
