Cats come in many shapes and sizes, various breeds of cats have been discovered over the years. Travellers, soldiers and many other explorers have encountered the many cats of the world. This has resulted in many historic accounts of various felines in the world. After some time, exposure and globalization led to the travels of the cats themselves. These were deemed to be the purest cats that would later become the ancestors of today’s population. The Asian cats which include the Burmese, have gained much fame all around the world but these Burmese cats are unique in appearance. The Asian cats deviate in colour and fur type. Their coats are different in texture yet maintain the short and dense structure that the Burmese is known for.

The Asian group of cat is representative of its heritage and includes a number of varieties including the Tabby, Bombay and others. This group isn’t simply limited to being short haired either, they also come in semi-long hair strains too. For instance, the Tiffanie Asian is a classic example of coat variation. Interestingly, much like the Burmese cats, gender will often dictate physical appearance of these types of cats. They male cats will appear large in stature and muscular with their densely packed coats. Female Asians will appear a little smaller in size in comparison and exhibit a slightly rounded chest. There is an air of elegance within the females and it may be possible to identify upon visual inspection the gender of a cat in this variety. The eyes of these cats will tend to be green or yellow, in some instances they may even appear to be golden or silver.

Asian cats are regarded as independent and proud cats that will carry themselves with much dignity and charm. They will majestically walk with their tales propped up high. The Asian Group is regarded as calm and grounded in temperament. They will not normally behave erratically and will often approach situations of interest with great curiosity. They are deemed to be social cats that will engage with their owners with great intelligence. Over time, the Asian Group behaves very similar to any other Burmese and will develop an affectionate and loyal relationship with its house mates. It should be noted however, despite existing in shorthair variants, they will require some attention to their grooming programme. A healthy cat will exhibit a shine in its coat under light.
