1968 Porsche 911 L
For the Porsche 70th Anniversary Sale (in October in Atlanta - Georgia, US), RM Sotheby's will auction this classic 1968 Porsche 911 L, the sports car by excellence. I love the design of the old model of the 911, you can't get much better...
This sale is held in collaboration with Porsche Driving Experience in Atlanta for the US 70th anniversary of Porsche, the 356 was road certified this year.
History of the Porsche 911
When Porsche wanted to improve its 365 a completely new model has to be created for more space for the occupants and storage for all set of golf club. Ferdinand Porsche, the eldest son of Ferry Porsche was in charge of the design while his cousin Ferdinand Piëch developped the engine.
The new model was presented at Frankfurt in 1963 as the 901 but thanks to Peugeot changed to 911 (Peugeot claims the right to three-digit car with zero in the middle). The L in 911L indicates that the brakes, trim and suspension are the upgraded 911S specifications and was made only for the American market (only one year of production, 1968).
Technical specification
With its 2.0 liter flat six-cylinder engine and four speed manual transmission, the Porsche 911 L is capable of producing 130 hp. Only 449 L models were produced. True beauty...
