History of the Jaguar XK140
The Jaguar XK140 was produced from 1954 to 1957, the upgrade of its sensational XK120 predecessor with improved brakes, suspension, rack and pinion steering (used on the racing car C-Type)... Three models types was built :
- roadster,
- coupé,
- and this model, the drophead coupé.
The drophead coupé offers more interior space with additional rear seats. And the design was revised for the radiotor grille and the rear lights with flashing indicators. Only 479 XK140 drophead coupés were made in right-hand drive configuration like this one (2,310 on the other side).
Technical specification
The engine is a Jaguar 3.4-litre, twin-cam six, which produced 190 hp and reached the 160 kmh in 26.2 sec (Autosport magazine 4th November 1955) with a top speed of top speed of about 200 kmh.
Beautifully restored by Twyford Moors, UKs leading Jaguar XK specialist, in blue with red leather interior. The dashboard is all in wood with the rear mirror on it.
