History of the Chevrolet Camaro

The Chevrolet Camaro was produced between September 1966 and 1969 for the first-generation. The idea behind this car was to offer a lot of packages and options in order to the client could customize his car. Three main packages were available :

RS, for the appeareance of the car with hidden headlights, exterior bright trim... 64,842 examples were produced.
SS, the performance package with an engine upgrade with 350 / 396 cu V8. 34,411 examples.
Z28, the package to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am series with a 302 V8, 4 speed transmission, power front disc brakes. Only 602 were produced.

The Chevrolet Camaro Z28 was conceived by Vince Piggins, father of probably the most popular American muscle car, who wanted to offer "virtually race-ready" Camaro.
