An anti-cannabis campaign has been recently established by a group of doctors in Ireland who are warning that the country is sleepwalking into potential legalization. They're calling themselves the Cannabis Risk Alliance and they believe that there has been a generous understatement of the harms caused by cannabis, as discussion has increased surrounding the potential for legalization now.

Ireland happens to rank near the top for opioid deaths.

But doctors in the region aren't ready to accept the natural right of people to seek other alternatives to help with their pain and other symptoms. They say that it's a one-sided debate that's going on, that legalization will foster danger, and that people have forgotten about the fears surrounding cannabis.

Ireland's Health Minister claims there are currently no plans for legalization.

Despite the many people who might want to see cannabis legalized in the region and people's right to choose respected, the health minister insists that there are no plans to make this happen anytime soon. There are plans to potentially expand medicinal access of the plant in the region though, but that isn't good enough for those who are left suffering.

As in many cases with medicinal or recreational acceptance, the issue has become increasingly confusing the more that government intervenes in trying to prevent people from making cannabis exchanges or using this substance. They should simply move out of the way and allow people to exercise their natural liberty without threat of violence.

Cannabis has never been shown to be responsible for causing a single fatality, the same cannot be said for the many pharmaceutical medications that those prominent doctors recommend to their customers though, who are a part of this new anti-cannabis campaign. Hopefully their patients who are suffering and who would prefer the option to try cannabis can convince them of their right to gain access. Or, those doctors can spend some time researching the growing number of publications that have come out highlighting the potential positive health benefits associated with cannabis consumption.
