The best grilled-bananas in Chinatown: Peoplephotography by @worldcapture week #14, กล้วยปิ้งที่อร่อยที่สุดในไชน่าเทาวน์

Many Thai Steemians may not know that this peoplephotography contest hosted by @worldcapture is a very good channel for sharing their photos of people.

So I have decided to translate and summarise the main conditions for interested Thai participants.

การแข่งขันภาพถ่ายที่มีผู้คนในเรื่องของภาพ จะเป็นภาพอะไรก็ได้ที่มีภาพคนรวมอยู่ด้วย

1. ส่งภาพเข้าแข่งขันได้ หนึ่งโพสต์ต่อสัปดาห์
2. ใช้ถาพถ่ายที่เป็นผลงานของตัวเอง
3. ใช้ tag: #peoplephotography
4. ห้ามใช้ภาพเปลือย
5. โพสรูปภาพในโพสต์ใหม่ต่างหาก
6. อย่าลืม tag @worldcapture ในโพสต์ของคุณด้วย
7. การเขียนชื่อเรื่อง “ชื่อเรื่อง ตามด้วย peoplephotography by @worldcapture week #14”
8. โพสต์ลิงค์ของเรื่องของคุณ ในด้านล่าง comment ของโพสต์นี้

This is my peoplephotography entry hosted by @worldcapture

I was amazed to find this old lady selling grilled bananas by in front of the gold shop in Chinatown last month. Such a contrast, she was selling four grilled bananas for ten bahts or about 10 cents! Yet she seemed so happy, cheerful and friendly so we had a nice chat. Her basket was very old, I think it's an antique as I could not see any street vendors with such a big and sturdy rattan woven basket that could take this kind of weight. She still kept the old wooden presser for pressing bananas by her side. We could buy either grilled unpressed bananas or the pressed ones which had been dipped in coconut sugar syrup. The grill was actually the biggest size wok you could find in the market in which charcoals had been piled in and covered with ash to keep a constant heat. I did try to lift the front basket, but I could not as the whole thing was more than twenty kilos. I was very impressed by her kindness and acceptance of her own life style; she had no trace of resentment even though she was sitting in front of the gold shop seeing rich people going in to buy gold all day. So her grilled bananas should be the best ones in Chinatown as she grilled her bananas with loving attention in making sure that they were cooked at the right temperature. These bananas would be a bit crispy on the outside while inside should be soft and moist. Yummy grilled bananas, I must go to get some soon.

เดือนก่อนเราไปเดินเล่นที่ไชน่าเทาวน์ ไปเจอหญิงสูงอายุนั่งขายกล้วยปิ้งอยู่หน้าร้านขายทองที่ริมถนนเยาวราช เราไม่เคยเห็นหาบหวายที่ใหญ่และเก่าแก่ขนาดนี้มาก่อน จึงต้องหยุดซื้อกล้วยปิ้งและชวนเขาคุย เธอให้ดูของใช้โบราณที่ยังใช้อยู่ทุกวันนี้ และบอกว่าหาซื้อไม่ได้แล้วเพราะไม่มีคนทำขาย เราเห็นกะทะใบใหญ่ที่มีถ่านและขี้เถ้าเต็ม ก็อดนึกสงสัยว่าใครจะยกไหว จึงขอลองยกดู แม้เจ้าโว้ย ไม่สามรถขยับได้เลย นี่มันหนักเกินยี่สิบกิโลทีเดียว กระบุงหลังก็เต็มไปด้วยแปลือกกล้วย และหม้อใส่นํ้าตาลมะพร้าวสำหรับชุบกล้วย แล้วยังมีคันหวายไม้อันใหญ่ เราคิดว่าถ้าเทศกิจมาไล่จับก็คงจะหนีไม่ทันแน่ๆ
ที่ประทับใจคือแม่ค้ามีความสุขกับชีวิตแบบคนธรรมดาๆ แม้ว่าจะนั่งขายกล้วยปิ้งอยู่หน้าร้านขายทอง และเห็นคนมีเงินเข้าไปซื้อทองเป็นเสันๆทั้งวัน เธอใจดีมากและอารมณ์ดี เวลาปิ้งกล้วยก็มีความตั้งใจดีพยายามปิ้งกลฃ้วยให้อร่อยที่สุด คอยดูว่าไฟไม่ร้อนเกินไป กล้วยปิ้งที่อร่อยจะต้องกรอบนอกนิดหน่อย แต่ข้างในนิ่มและหอมจากเตาถ่าน พูดแล้วเราคงต้องไปหากล้วยปิ้งกินแล้ว หิวขึ้นมาทันที
