No Turning Back on My Road to STEEMFest Bangkok Thailand

Road to STEEMfest 4 Blocktrades Planning Contest Entry fitinfun.jpg

I am going to STEEMFest in Bangkok this November. As a nomad, I live in Malaysia now, and the timing is such that I need to leave here for my Visa needs right at that time, so where else would I go when so many Steemians are gathering so close?

I have no doubt I will be there, with only a voice in my head (that I never listen to) wondering where the money will come from.

My plan is to leave Malaysia on October 29, since that will be the last day of my Visa here. I will fly from Kuala Lumpur, and then stay in a hostel near the conference site. A day or two after STEEMFest ends, I will take a train and bus combination to get back to KL.

I lived in Bangkok for two years before moving here last August, and I am so excited to go back for this trip. I have friends in Bangkok and love the place. The photos here were all taken by me in Bangkok with various crappy cameras and cell phones.

I left a couple of suitcases with my friends, and will stuff them with cheap goodies I cannot get here. This is why I am not flying back. Checking my luggage would cost much more than my fight passenger ticket. Luggage rides free on the train and bus.

I have already written several posts about my road to STEEMFest. It took me a couple of days to realize that OF COURSE I was going to STEEMFest, and then I worked posting about the trip into my weekly post schedule on STEEM.

I have a lot of Bangkok travel knowledge, and I hope others will benefit from reading what I write. I also have decisions to make for my own trip, and what better place to work those out than on a STEEM post?

Hotel Ideas - Conference Site or Offsite?
Thai Visa and Travel Information You Need to Know!

My upcoming STEEMFest posts are not titled or exactly firmed up yet. But this is my working list:

  • Airport issues and ground transport in Bangkok
  • The area around the conference site
  • Food aside from STEEMFest provided food
  • Thai people and unique things about Thailand
  • Health Concerns (bugs, heat, sun, food, hydration, meds)

  • What to bring and what to buy in Bangkok
  • General and specific money issues
  • Ideas if you plan to stay longer (30, 60 or 90 days)
  • Information about the surrounding countries of Thailand

Looking at the blocktrades call for entry post, by @anomadsoul, I see they want to create a feeling of familiarity with these contest posts.

For those of you who do not know me at all, this is my intro:

Who is Sharon from @fitinfun?

I’m a fat nomadic accountant who turned into a thin nomadic weight loss coach at the age of 50. This happened because I lost “half my size” with natural methods after a lifetime of miserable obesity. I wrote books about my journey to better health when it happened.

The books did not sell well and people advised me to get on social media for marketing, so I opened up a fb account for the first time. I never imagined with this would lead to.

Now I have been on the internet 24/7 for the last eight years on too many platforms to remember. The books still do not sell well, but they do sell some copies each month. (Y'all are still fat too, so hmu if you need help.)

Getting to STEEM

I was on a wonderful platform called tsu a few years ago, and made a lot of great friends there. After tsu died, many of those friends came to STEEM, and would not stop bothering me until I joined too.

I did not want to come here because I did not want to learn crypto. Ha!

I just passed my second year on STEEM, and have thrown everything else by the wayside for this nuthouse. I have learned more than I can believe is possible about crypto and still do not know much.

I have three blogs here. All of them post 1 share2steem each day which promotes some piece of STEEM content on twitter and then ends up on the blog. I am a big believer in the power of STEEM now and promote on fb as well.

But with our 95% kill-rate, I feel most of my effort is better spent here helping the people that managed to stumble in like I did. My book sales already prove marketing is not my skill and most weeks 1000+ people land on the steps here anyway, so I try to help them walk up them when they find my posts.

My blogs generally follow these themes:

@fitinfunfood

  • healthy food ideas and general health topics
  • tasteem reviews
  • my "Improve Curation Income Project" (fork version)
  • ccc posts

@bxlphabet

  • dApps
  • dpolls
  • games
  • song lyrics

@fitinfun

  • freewritehouse posts <<< Where I blog about life and memories
  • minnow tips <<< The most important work I do here
  • travel
  • photography
  • everything else

I try to post 45-50 posts each week and make 300+ comments and replies. Usually I make it.

Sit down for this part, BigFish:

I am not an investor here.

I do not buy SP. Instead, I live off STEEM and STEEM related money, and have been doing that since December 2017. Yes I live in poverty in Malaysia, but I am doing it.

In accounting (fiat) we have investors, but we also have many more users. Cryptocurrency is heavy on investors and very light on users. Both are needed for a healthy economy.

I’m one of the users of cryptocurrency now. I think of myself as being in the vanguard showing people that crypto is real. If some old lady can do it, anyone can.

Reward pool rapist, you scream?

No!

My main overarching goal in this place is to help other small accounts succeed while also succeeding myself. I work hard to increase my SP each week and I'm doing it slowly even though I take money out for expenses too. So that is my investment here - slowly growing SP by blogging.

I get it that we need investors with real money and I am so glad some are coming in. New blood is good blood. I know people who are recent STEEM investors, and please God, bring more.

But what are you investing in if new people cannot succeed in blogging here? That is where I try to help.

Here is my most recent Monster Minnow Tips post to give you an idea of what I do here. As I learn things, I post them and update when changes happen. I am very proud of this work.

Minnow Tips! You CAN Succeed on STEEM

As mentioned above,
@bxlphabet is testing dApps, games and dpolling on these topics.
@fitinfunfood is all about the weight loss and increasing curation revenue
@fitinfun is keeping it all together.

I’m really a nerdy know-it-all researcher who likes to teach. So I feel like I have found my online home on STEEM with a good fit for my niches.

I have already met some of the people I know will see again at STEEMFest, and I can't wait to meetup again. As for the rest of you, I am so excited I will now meet you as well.

Rest assured. I will be at STEEMFest this November in Bangkok. No doubt in my mind at all.

@fitinfun one day I would like to go to steemfest but for now, I will live it through your post. good luck and have fun.

Only four months to go, lol. I will be happy to have you along, @myjob :)

@fitinfun, that would be nice, but in reality not going to happen so take me in spirit. I will travel with you by your posting about it.

Yes you will!

It makes me happy that you are living off of steem. I wish it wasn’t so much work though...

life of the nomad seems very charming.

In 60 years of doing it, I have never heard the nomad life described that way. You sure give me something to think about today, @fieryfootprints.

Thank you so much for the comment :)

Looks like we will be seeing you at steemfest 4!
My wife and I have lived in Cambodia for 8 years now, we wanted to go to the last steemfest but it was just to far away, this time no excuses!

That's wonderful to know, @philippekiene. I will be so happy to meet you both.

I have only been to PP over there and loved it. Cambodia is possibly my next destination after Malaysia, so now I might ask you questions. I hear the TR Visas are easy to stay on with.

Be sure that both of you do all these contests. I think that is a key for SF success. SE Asians are going to overwhelm this one. I am sure of it.

Visas are very easy here, especially compared to thailand.
Siem Reap is great, cheap, people are friendly, free wifi everywhere, unlimited internet is about $10 usd a month. Electricity is a bit pricey though.

What's rent in usd? I am not picky - I pay $100 usd in KL now for a condo room, balcony, shared bath, kitchen laundry. Near food and all I need. I mostly need to not be bothering anyone when I work odd hours.

You make me want to check out travel by train and bus
Not so much because I want to bring stuff back but I am thinking it might be fun
But I’d probably still fly back

I cannot wait to meet you
And I myself have learnt a thing or two and then some from your minnow tips
And you are very generous with your tips
So thank you 💗

You're welcome, @kaerpediem! So glad to help.

OK - so fly IN and train/bus BACK. The flight in is way cheaper than coming back for some reason. And then you can take a bunch of stuff back without having to check it at the airport. for big $$$.

So funny we will probably meet first up there! If you want to work it out, I will be glad to train/bus back with you. It is a beautiful trip I look forward to already. I'm thinking of leaving a day or two after the fest. 6 days is a l-o-n-g conference. and I feel like I might want to chill a bit before traveling.

Oh you got me thinking now
Ok, let me work this out seriously
I am really hoping to win the ticket but there so many of us eyeing it
I wish they’d quickly tell us how much it is .... oh wait! Have they?
