Today - A Steemit Book Review - Ajax Tarnished by @dbzfan4awhile
A horrible and fantastic thing happened today..
My ISP had an unplanned major outage across most of my state, so instead of being able to do my usual thing and bounce around on Steem like an energizer bunny I had to do something else..
I decided to read instead, and what better than this amazing book which was graciously presented to me in order to give some feedback titled: "AJAX TARNISHED" which was written by @dbzfan4awhile or Jeremiah Whitehead as his fleshpuppet is called.
Jeremiah Whitehead’s lovingly-crafted tale is set in a time of metal, smoke and steam, oddly powered machinery and there are no threats of war nor concern over intolerance. This most definitely changes over the course of the tale.
The flow was easily assimilated, I found the pacing flawless and characters personable and the odd confusion from esoteric technology and wrangling my head around some names didn't detract from the experience. (I forget names rather quickly for some reason, but ask me what we did 2 years ago and I will recount perfectly.)
My favorite part in the book would have to be the halfway point where I felt the author really break out of the 'structure' of the early pages and stretch legs.
Lots of first person viewpoints, internal personal dialog relevant to previous experiences and present. I really felt like I had become the character, like he meant something to me now.
I knew what they were about by this point, not that it made the book predictable, I just felt more drawn into the scene and setting with the different feel of the text.
There were one or two small issues with typing, perhaps one or two moments I didn't personally appreciate, (Ugh never knew how hard it is to write a review without spoiling things!!).
But after some one on one with the author himself, I am assured everything will be sorted as soon as possible. (I highly doubt there will be any edits beyond the odd misspelling as those scenes were pivotal to the story) But that is fine.
All in all this book was quite the fun afternoon read.
If you are a fan of Brog the Stoop by Joe Boyle or the Dragons of Pern chronicles by Anne McCaffrey I believe you will enjoy taking a journey of copper, cogs and steam with Ajax Tarnished.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this today dearest readers, and thank you @dbzfan4awhile for gifting me a copy of your story in order to read and cherish.
If you would like to pick up a copy, here is a link to amazon.
It's only a few dollars for the e-book and worth it in my opinion.
May you all have a glorious day, and much love. <3
Afterthought, if there is any of you that would like me to review a book of your own or that you enjoyed drop a comment and time permitting I will do so.

Thanks so much @sammosk for the kind words and good feedback. The book is on Amazon for anyone who wants to take a look; and I have 2 sequels that will be coming out in the future. I hope that everyone enjoys the story, although I know there will be some that this is not their cup-of-tea.
Thanks for this. I have been meaning to read it but not had chance yet. I am a huge fan of Anne McCaffrey so know I will enjoy this. As you suggested, maybe I will load it up on my e-reader and savour it during my flight to Steemfest.
Oh cool. If you like it, you can always promote it at Steemfest with pictures of people and all sorts of fun stuff!
Please don't cry over it.
I will do my best.
@dbzfan4awhile wow !!! O_o I will take a note with that book and thanks @sammosk
Thanks to @sammosk for such a wonderful review. I hope you have your tear-ducts clear, because it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
When the internet goes down, I like to do something else like sleep.
Obviously, lol. What if you can't sleep though?
Thats why God invented niquil
mm, sounds interesting and a book I might like. I use to live in my fantasy books and like you, became a part of the book. Now reading is a luxery for me. Plus enough crazy characters on this island to keep me entertained. lol Great review my friend, enough to get me to download on my kindle for another rainey day.
Woohoo. I am such pleased that you enjoyed it, it is not a long read or super challenging so I believe you will get through it without an issue.
Looking forward to hearing back from you if/when you do read it. Bookmark this for later reference? :D
Much love. <3
Thanks and I plan to download it in a bit!!
Thank you @thehtreehugs for your interest and I certainly hope it is a story in which you will become immersed.
<3 for SAMMO!
Plus a burgeoning author in our midst ;)
But he's a DBZ Fan??? lol
I am indeed @underground. I can be multiple things, like a Rubik's Cube-Solver as well. I'm a man of many talents.
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!! ;)
D!CK Measuring Time, what was your best time for solving a fully scrambled Rubik's Cube?
Mine was 1:13 and I was Vice-President of the Rubik's Cube Club in HS :D
I used the old Layer Method, btw... not really the fastest way I guess?
Fine, you win. hangs head in shame my best was about 3 minutes. Then again, I'm self-taught solver and don't use these so-called memorized methods... I actually mapped out the Cube and the needed strategies.
Besides, as the Pointer Sisters sang, "I want a man with a slow hand" so I am content with my 4 minute speed. Oooh yeah, "... an easy touch".
hehee, I guess if the ladies like it better, YOU WIN!!!
Great Times, and I am not self taught like you!
SALUTE!!!
I also disassembled the cube and used silicon lube, which makes for a smooth entry and much smoother "ride" ;) The ladies like that too! :D
That was actually 1 thing that I always had trouble with for speed was that it would like cling and stick.
Wow, that would help you a LOT
Prolly sub-2 min times! :D
I'm blown away.
Amazing how much time we waste by being online! Don't get me wrong - the Internet is amazing and has changed the world and blah blah blah - but man, we don't always use it productively!
I went on holiday recently to Indonesia and was in a place with very limited access. Ended up reading over 1000 pages of a book that has been slow-going back home (due to all the online distractions!) - so yes, I can see how your ISP did you a favour here! :)
The book sounds good and I appreciate your concise review! It sounds like a great read! Thank you @sammosk ❤
I'm glad you liked it rose, I wonder if we can get some kind of steemit discount? :D
@dbzfan4awhile what are your thoughts on sp/sbd purchases of say the pdf on a one use file host or something?
Might be cool! :D
Much love to you both. <3
And thank you for reading @wandrnrose7
❤❤❤💕
