What a weekend!

This last weekend was just fantastic. As I reported in my post on Sunday, we had quite an active Saturday, already enjoying the fantastic weather by going through a walk with my father-in-law and my kids. Well Sunday was even better and more active.

I promised the family to take them to the zoo again. For those of you who have started following me recently, I bought my wife an annual subscription to the zoo for her birthday. You can read all about that in this post. This was the third time for me and the fourth time for the rest of the family as they also went once during the week with friends, when I had to work. This also means that from now on, every time we go, we've already gotten our moneys' worth.

Most of my fellow paparazzo were waiting for this shot and I got it ... first time luck 😉

It promised to be another fantastic day, weather wise, so we did expect that there would be many people there on the day. It's a good thing that we're early risers as there was already a big crowd, 15 minutes before the zoo opened, when we arrived. This was to be expected as they just opened a new part of the zoo dedicated to Australia with 2 koala's and it was also the first nice weekend of the year. It was already nice on Easter-Monday and then there was a huge crowd there as well. My brother-in-law wanted to go then and he arrived at 10AM and couldn't even get a parking spot, so we were pre-warned.

Don't ask me which is which, one is called Mikey and the other Milo

When we entered we headed straight for the koala's as my daughter wanted to see them and we were very lucky to see one of them climb the tree, eat some eucalyptus and generally entertain the crowd whilst the other was hidden up in another tree. Afterwards we headed to the Flamingo's, another special request from my daughter. Whilst we were there we had a snack whilst enjoying the sights and the sun.

a Beautiful setting for beautiful animals

After the flamingo's we headed to the lions, passing 2 Spectacled bears, nasua's and zebra's. When we got to the lions we were treated to a show as there is a part with a glass-partition and you can see the lions through a glass wall from very close. In our case one of the females was pacing up and down right in front of us. These pictures below were taken from about 1 meter away ... she was absolutely amazing!!!

Have you ever wondered what food would think if it was still alive when you buy it? Go to the Zoo in Zürich, stand in front of the glass partition at the lions and you will find out if you wait long enough 😉

Next and final stop on our trip was the tiger, who made us a show by himself. This one is an absolute beauty and also made an effort to show us.

a Magnificent and beautiful animal and how he blends in with his environment ... absolutely fantastic!!!

After we had lunch we said goodbye to our friends and headed home so that our kids could have a little sleep. In the afternoon we were invited at our neighboors for coffee, the same one I go jogging with and yes, we went for a jog afterwards. You can read about that one in my weekly summary from last Sunday.

So a fantastic weekend all round. I am going to leave you with a few more pictures of our trip to the zoo. Thank you for reading!

Wowwwww... What a beautiful story. Uou really had so much fun. How did you cope with these wild animals not in cage? Hmmmmm thats very brave. Weldone

They were in a cage, but this part was separated with a glass wall, I'm sure it was thick and strong enough. A fascinating experience and it's a beautiful zoo.

Wow beautiful pictures. I would just love to cuddle with those lions 😁

LOL, you always crack me up! I've been missing you around, I hope you're ok?!
