[blog] F.U. and Reflections (7D.BnW.PC)
Following up on my super personal...
...Seven-Day Black and White Photo-Challenge. Which wasn't really too challenging for me, except for having to choose the right photo and to write relatively nothing.
(F.U. = follow up)

2.1 Taking in the Trash
The words, "history is here do not litter," are written on a garbage bin in this photo. Which was taken north of the GWB in NY, in what appeared to be an abandoned "homeless" haven. Or perhaps the residents of the aforementioned haven were simply at work. This quintessential quote is quite striking all on its own. Without needing to be written on a garbage can, sitting in the middle of the hallway of a homeless person's home, underneath a string of highway overpasses and roads. The added irony of it all was the fact that most of the furniture seemed to be discarded items that were probably considered junk by their previous owners. Yet here, they were tastefully arranged and with some sense of purpose.
2.2 There's some place like home
It was a few summers ago, either before or after I had gone on holidays. Where I would have had easy access to a beach and would have been out in the sun a lot. However, this photo was taken at home, while sitting in a beach chair, sunbathing on the asphalt driveway in the back yard. Even during the summer weekends don't usually have enough time to spend outdoors as I would like. The inspiration here was found lounging above the hot asphalt, looking up at the cloud littered sky and imagining I was perhaps somewhere else.
2.3 φεγγάρι μου κουράζω σε......
Here is a rather obvious photo of the moon -once you realize it's not just a black image of course. Nothing special, I didn't use a telescope. But the moon provides an interesting "small world " phenomenon. A psychological connection between two people. Knowingly or unknowingly. Consciously or subconsciously. Intentional or not. The moon is an important part of a lot of cultures and religions. And the more I think about it, if just conceptually, it becomes easier to understand why. Another thing that was included in this post was a poem from a traditional style of Cretan (Greek) music. These poems are called mantinades and are 15-syllable rhyming couplets. The particular one included mentioned the moon in it.
2.4 "Η πούτσα του Δια"
An image of some graffiti covered wall in a bathroom of some bar in NYC. I don't remember the name of the place or where exactly it was located. I do remember that the graffiti in the image wasn't there before I entered the bathroom. The words written were taken from a TV series I was watching at the time, concurrently with some friends and my brother. The series took place in ancient Rome so the sayings and language used, was made to reflect or seem to be reflective of ancient times. I can't verify this since I wasn't there nor have I researched it enough to know. Anyway, in the show, the quote was typically used in lieu of expressing the feeling one has when saying something to the effect of "son of a bitch" or "dammit".
2.5 Looking skyward...
This photo is my attempt to capture the beauty in things that may not otherwise be perceived as beautiful or interesting. Using the various materials, lighting, depth and geometric shapes of the surroundings to frame the sky above. A lot of photographs are taken for work related purposes. So I try to take a step back, to see things that I'm not supposed to see and break up the monotony.
2.6 Cloud Nine + 5
Simply bacon at a diner. 'Nuff said. I won't delve into this one any further right now. Beyond the fact that it expresses my love for bacon... and diners.
2.7 The Steemian [Jedi] Apprentice
In the final photo, the meaning of and inspiration for the main and secondary titles are hidden in the photo. As well as in some inside information, that if you didn't know, you would understand. The building in the mid-ground was also photographed by the Steemian that introduced me to the platform. Who I fittingly nominated to take on the BnW challenge in this final post. The description below the photo is simply an homage to the number 100 seen faintly on one of the buildings.
