The Waterfalls Near Iligan City Part 9

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

This is part 9 of my post about Iligan City's waterfalls. Please check out Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 if you haven't checked them out already.

My former high school classmate who wished to remain anonymous has emailed me numerous pics of his hiking adventures around some of these spectacular waterfalls which he visited. There were a bunch of these photos in his hard drive available so I decided to make them into a series of posts with his kind permission.

Lino Falls

Lino Falls, named after the father of the guide named Vincent. Lino owns the land near the waterfalls. It was Vincent, the son, who named the falls after his father. A cool way to name the falls here after the name of the person. That may have been true with some of the falls nearby.

Vincent with his water buffalo pulling a cart with no wheels filled with coconuts and crossing the river. A few kilometers upstream from here can be found the Languyon Falls.

The journey towards the Lino falls couldn't have happened if not for Vincent. After exploring two other waterfalls nearby, on his way downstream, my former classmate met with Vincent. He was a local from the place and spent much of his life here knowing much about everything. He volunteered to be the local guide if they could just follow him.

Vincent was a friendly man though he had a large bolo (a large cutting tool of Filipino origin similar to the machete) hanging on his waist which made my former classmate more comfortable going with him.

Just nearby from his house my former classmate found this waterfall. It's not that tall though, but the surrounding vegetation amazed him.

This plant can be used like a sand paper, Vincent informed them. Looking closer at its leaves and seems to have that characteristic rough and thorny leaves.

Just about a hundred meters upstream from the first one, they reached the Lino falls. Vincent named it after his father.

Further upstream this shorter waterfalls can be found.

A few hundred meters further upstream they found this smaller waterfall.

The waterfalls may not be as enticing for them to swim, but the vegetation nearby could please a botanist.

When cooked, this plant's flowers are a favorite delicacy among the locals.

very beautiful pictures. wonderful nature.

Beautiful photography my friend! I've never been to the Philippines but I know many of the Vietnam War movies are filmed there. It's striking, the similarities between the topography there and the Central Highlands of Vietnam near the Cambodian border. Beautiful!

That's good to know. Thanks.

I liked the post about Lino falls. I like to read and view photos of such amazing places. The photos are excellent.

A bit better after getting out of the hospital. I am taking antibiotics that make my stomach queasy but it is bearable.
