The Waterfalls Near Iligan City Part 2

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

This is part 2 of my post about Iligan City's waterfalls. Please check out Part 1 if you haven't read it already.

My former classmate has sent me some good pics of some these waterfalls which he visited. There were plenty of pics so I decided to make them into a series of posts with his kind permission.

Tinago Falls

Tinago Falls is a waterfall in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao. It is one of the main tourist attractions in Iligan, a city known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls. (I was informed that it is believed to be more than 50 waterfalls. The official list from the city hasn't been updated yet. My former classmate and his running buddies have made new discoveries of some unknown waterfalls.)

Tinago Falls is located in a deep ravine in Barangay Ditucalan, Iligan City. The falls plunges 240 feet (73 m) high from a cliff.

Tinago is a Filipino term meaning "hidden", the falls being hidden in a deep ravine. Walking to the falls requires approximately 500 descending steps called the winding staircase.

The falls is high, its very cold waters cascading beautifully into a deep and calm basin-like pool which appears like a blue-colored lagoon. Under the falls is a small cave where people can enter and listen to the rumbling waters. (source)

You can even take a raft to the falls

Swimmers and bathers love to climb and jump from the sides of the waterfall's cliffs

That looks like a beautiful place to enjoy? Did you swim three?

No, I'm afraid to. I can't climb down the steps in a wheelchair and it is steep.

Oh wow, these are some fantastic pics. That is one hell of an amazing waterfall!

Thank my ex-classmate for that. He was a generous guy. : -]

Thanks for sharing, these waterfalls are beautiful. I'd love to visit sometime.

Thanks for the comment!
