Useful Discord groups for Steemit users

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

A few days ago I was explaining to some of the friends from Croatian Steemit Discord group which other groups I found useful and why. I promised to write a post about the topic to make my life easier and just share the post next time someone needs a helping hand with that.

The STEEM Engine

This is the group that helped me the most when I joined Steemit. It is a group which focuses on quality content and promoting meaningful engagement between its members. Chat in is pretty lively there and there are a lot of experienced users ready to help. The group was started by @ethandsmith, @HopeHuggs, @catweasel, @enchantedspirit, and @apanamamama and you can check " introduce yourself" post of the group here.

People are motivated to read each other's posts through the rules in the post promotion channel. Rules are pretty simple if you want to post in post promotion you first have to upvote and comment two other posts previously posted in the channel. You also have to tag people whose posts you have commented on to make life easier for our moderators.
Your comments have to be insightful and show that you have actually read the post. Moderators manually check each comment, and if your comment is generic your post will be deleted from post promotion and you will be warned.
You will be warned only once ;)

Besides getting visibility each of the posts in post promotion will be upvoted by @thesteemengine account.

Being a member of the group gives you a chance to be curated in The Daily Whistle Stops which is a daily series of curation posts from our channel selected by @enchantedspirit. There is also a weekly curation podcast by @ethandsmith called The STEEM Engine Express. In the show Ethan talks about the best posts from the group each week.

The STEEM Engine accepts only users with quality content. Once you fill in an application to the group moderators will check the quality of your posts and decide if you qualify to be part of the group.

Don't confuse this group with steemengine. Groups are completely unrelated and their values and goals differ greatly. The only thing they have in common is the similar name.

Peace, Abudance, Liberty

This group has many initiatives and projects. I am not well informed about many of those so you will have to explore them yourself. However, there is one show in this group I love and I recommend visiting it.
It is The Steemit Creative Curation Show with Shane and Isaria! It is the show hosted by @Isaria and @swelker101. The show is dedicated to curating creative content.

Where?

You can listen to the show in PAL discord channel.

When?

Every Sunday 12 AM - 2 AM CET

How?

You can submit link to your creative content (art, music, film, poetry, etc.) in comments of the weekly post announcing the show, at Isaria's profile.

Even if you didn't apply your post for the show come and listen, you will enjoy. Both Isaria and Shane are great hosts and they cover some really great content. If you are not interested in this specific show check out @Isaria's profile. You will find some other interesting contests concerning art and music. If you are not even interested in those, you can always listen to Isaria's music there. Trust me it is worth it! :D

Steemit Ramble

Steemit Ramble has a show where you can promote your post. The host of the show is @ShadowsPub who is also the curator behind Steemit Ramble curation series.

Pimp Your Post Thursday - Thursday - 5PM CET and 1AM CET

Host: @ShadowsPub

ShadowsPub PYPT is a very relaxed and friendly voice post promotion channel. When you are ready you put an icon in the chat, and ShadowsPub will call you once your turn comes. Between the posts, there is a friendly chatter and discussion about topics (most often started by the post that was last pimped). If you don't have a microphone you can still come, but you have to prepare a text that describes your post up front. When it is your turn you just put the text and the link to your post in the chat and Shadow will read it for you.

You might even catch ShadowsPub's attention and end up in one of the Steemit Rambles.

Another new addition to the show is @DreemSteem's contest. This contest is special because it requires you to read and engage with the posts by others instead of writing your own. DreemSteem drops one hint every day a few days before the show. By following hints you have to decipher the sentence that DreemSteem has prepared. The final hint is dropped at PYPT (1 AM CET show) and the first one to decipher the sentence wins some SBD.

Whaleshares

Whaleshares is another discord group which hosts talk shows. Not only that but they award you whaleshares and hairshares for active participation in the channel. Whaleshares and hairshares are tokens which are worth 1% of a vote from a bot each. You can check SP and VP of those bots here.

There are a lot of different talk shows in whaleshares discord, but these are the ones I have visited and I recommend everyone to check them out.

Whaleshares Live Curation Event - Monday - 1 AM CET

In this show four hosts and one guest host each pick two articles posted in whaleshares post promotion channel during that week and talk about them in detail. This is a great way to get your posts some visibility. In addition to that, the authors of the chosen posts are awarded additional Whaleshares to boost their posts.

Hosts:
@nikflossus
@poeticsnake
@lindahas

@kubbyelizabeth was the fourth host, but last Monday was her last show. I don't know if they will have a new host or if the show will continue with three hosts. Come to listen to the show next Monday and find out.

Live Promote Your Post Session - Thursday and Sunday - 1 AM CET

Host: @FreedomExists

In this show, the host of the show calls out one by one participant to talk about their recent post and promote it in front of an audience. It is a great way to promote your post in your own words. In addition, all of those who promote their posts there get some hairshares to boost their posts as a reward for participation.

You may be wondering how to use those hairshares and whaleshares. You will need to open bitshares account to receive and use them. Here is the screenshot guide that explains how to use them once you have your bitshares account:

Now you will have to go to http://whaleshares.net for a moment.

I recommend you to buy some bitshares for your bitshares account. Transaction fee you will pay in bitshares is much smaller than one you will pay in whaleshares or hairshares, if you have no bitshares. 2 SBD worth of bitshares will last for a very long time if you use your account only for whaleshares votes.

Qurator

Qurator is a discord group that requires you to pay membership, but the benefits it offers are worth it. Membership is a one time fee of 4 STEEM (they don't accept SBD anymore). You send your 4 STEEM to @qurator account with your account name written in memo. After it is sent you wait for up to three days for qurators moderators to check if your content has good enough quality to be accepted to the group. Example:

Capture.JPG

Benefits of the group are the chance to be selected in one of Qurator curation posts and qurator's voting bot which votes on one post on your account daily.

Here are some stats from the qurator at the moment of writing this post:

qurator2.JPG

There are a few ways to get to the higher tier of membership in Qurator

T1 - Delegate 100SP to @qurator or Upvote @qurator's posts 4+ times a week
T2 - Delegate 200SP to Qurator or Upvote @qurator's posts 7+ times a week
T3 - Delegate 300SP to @qurator
T4 - Delegate 400SP to @qurator
T5 - Delegate 500SP to @qurator

Upvoting and delegating stack (for example if you upvote qurator's posts 7+ time a week and delegate 100 SP you will be placed in T3. In order for your vote to be valid, it has to be worth at least 0.01 SBD or be cast at full power if you don't have enough SP for your vote to be worth 0.01 SBD.

Hrvatska Udruga Steemit Korisnika (HUSK) and Balkan Steemit Alliance (BSA)

Steemit Croatia .png

Two groups started by @ivan.atman. If you are from Balkan come and join BSA and if you are from Croatia join both groups.

In BSA we have our own voice post promotion hosted by Ivan Ataman, each Sundays at 8 PM CET. The group is steadily growing so this voice post promotion isn't much smaller than those in Whaleshares or Steemit Ramble.

We have also started planning the organization of Balkan Steemfest and all discussions about that are happening in BSA. Group is still young so many other initiatives are still in development. A few days ago we implemented the same rule in the postpromotion channel as the one I mentioned in The STEEM engine section of this post.

P. S. Be wary, we mostly discuss food in general chat, so it might be dangerous to come there while you are hungry.

I hope this was helpful, for any further questions leave a comment below. There are a lot of links here, so if you notice that one of them leads to the wrong place please inform me.
