Bitshares - State of the Network - 20th December 2016

Welcome to the 14th Bitshares State of the Network (BSotN) report. I will be releasing this report weekly to look at the changes in the ecosystem and track longer term changes in a effort to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares platform.

Bitshares - State of the Network - 20th December 2016

The Bitshares State of the Network Reports seeks to combine raw data from a wide range of metrics and combine them into meaningful information to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares network.

Observation from this week

This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.

• EstefanTT launched BitTwenty officially on the Beyond Bitcoin Hangout; BitTwenty is a index fund that tracks the value of the top 20 cryptocurrencies (by market cap). Each coin in the index is allowed a maximum of 10%. The index started as the value of one ounce of gold and has since increased to over double its original value. BitTwenty trades on the Bitshares DEX as BTWTY:BTS and is a smartcoin allowing anyone to use BTS as collateral to issue the coin into the market, this allows you to long or short sell the index. • Bitshares-Munich is running a Christmas competition on your favorite social media platforms. • The Blockchain Brokerage (TBB) has launched their pre-ico crowd sale on the Bitshares network (TBBSAR:OPEN.BTC); The main goal of TBB is to provide a professional investment environment based on a decentralized platform. • Big news in the Peerplays space in terms of the upcoming trading halt of the PEERPLAYS tokens on the Bitshares DEX and the issueance of the official PPY token. Make sure you are aware of the upcoming changes at peerplays.com

• @stan has announced The Invictus Investment Club to Leverage the BitShares Blockchain; an educational experimental investment club for students from the Saxion University. Invictus aims to prove that investment clubs can use the BitShares blockchain for managing their investment portfolios. This includes shareholder administration, issuing shares (the Invictus token) and debt (the Saxion Euro), and investing in various global blockchain initiatives. find out more Here

• Lots of exciting work from @kencode and his team on C-IPFS, Smartcoin wallets performance boost from client side processing of some data, home screen redesign and the addition of native Bitcoin wallet with upcoming NFC capabilities and not to mentioned their Bitshares Stealth project; find out more about the details of what these guys have been up to (theres a lot) HERE or checkout the github page

• Chronos worker proposal has been voted out; based of an effort to reduce the pressure on BTS in the short term; worker proposals are generally proposed with a set amount of BTS derived from the worker proposed pay rate in USD (or local fiat); the current market value of BTS is a core component in determining the amount of BTS needed to pay workers; with the price of BTS being so cheap in the last month or two of the back of BTC rising the shareholder approval has dropped below the threshold. Hopefully this is only short term and we can see Chronos voted back in the future. the next installment was/nearly due so it will be interesting to see if Chronos will finish the position with 1 last video.

• @xeroc is asking for community feedback on the desire for a Bitshares specific python library; such a library would help future developers to get started with Bitshares by abstracting away some complexities and allowing the to deal with a library itself; on the cards is also a command line interface similar to the famous Piston. • @bloggersclub has announced yesterday that Incent (INCNT) and Waves (WAVES) are now live on the OpenLedger DC and fully tradeable on the Bitshares Decentralized Exchange. Find the official announcement HERE

• @bloggersclub has announced Early bird discounts/bonuses for the upcoming CENTZ ICO, find out how to grabs some cheaper than ICO CENTZ HERE

• @taskmanager creator of the Bitshare UIA 'taskmanager' (Taskmanager is a profitshare / steemvote token) which has been presented on the Beyond Bitcoin Mumble. These tokens sold on the Bitshares DEX and liquard steem earned from @taskmanager account is used to buy back the tokens from the open market; as an added bonus any holder who holds more that 50 taskmanager tokens gets auto upvoted. find out more about 'taskmanager' HERE

• Fun Casino payed dividend to holders of FUNC this week. Total payout this week was 0.844 BTC distributed proportionally to shareholders

• In terms of amount expended from the reserve pool w/w this week has been the second cheapest week on my record with the Bitshares networks expanses - income = 155,000 BTS

• The last asset registered this week is asset #1222 and it is named 'TRANS.PLS' registered by 'bitcrab' with the description 'TransWiser PLS backed asset. https://dacplay.org'

• Current registered wallets/accounts within the Bitshares network is 147813; an increase of 5350 wallets/accounts since last week
