Opening a new BITSHARES account on OPENLEDGER is SUPER EASY! - When the Faucet is loaded!

in #bitshares8 years ago (edited)

Check out what happened earlier today and see the first few comments to see how it ended :) Fantastic people in Bitshares Decentralized exchange!

(earlier today) I have pulled out most of my hair trying to get an account registered on OpenLedger. Error after Error has tortured and traumatized me to such an extent that I probably should just forget about it and move on... @dan or @dantheman this is how the user-experience is for a new user:

Thank you for watching. Now, if there is anyone in Bitshares who can fix this problem, and make the user account registration as easy as it should be, that would be really nice. But as it stands - not even me can figure this one out, which means that someone is to blame for making a trivial task like registering an account, so incredible complex, no wonder there is little liquidity in there if this is the wall every new user meet when they register.

Anyway, I wont give up - so tomorrow I will try again, and hopefully - this article has been read by everyone in bitshares openledger so that everything become as easy to register & use as steemit is.

Thank you :)

Hey fyrstikken, it looks like openledgers wallet is short on funds. I added some to the account so it should be fixed for now if you want to try again.

thanks @lafona - now it worked :)

I´m sending you some SBD to cover your costs.

Glad I could help. Thanks for the tip :)

Time and time again Steemers like @lafona remind me why I am on Steemit every day, generosity and expeditious help are just always around the corner :) @frystikken great to see you covering the cost!

This is very very strange. Why would it not allow a new account creation? We need to upgrade the openledger protocol

It looks like the faucet account balance ran down too low due to a large number of new accounts created in the last few days. But I think someone saw this and sent some BTS to that account a few minutes ago. Try again, I think it will work fine for you now.

Hi @tombstone. This may not be the appropriate place to ask, but seeing as your last blog was two months ago I figured I would try on your recent activity. I noticed your immense amount of SP and I was curious about your relationship Steemit and what made you decide to power up such a large amount. If you don't feel comfortable answering I understand. I think it is awesome that you invested in this platform and I am trying to get a better understanding of it.

@fyrstikken - do you mind updating the post title since it's not impossible to open a bitshares account on OpenLedger, and it was just a temporary condition due to exhausted faucet? I think it would be a shame for people to get the wrong impression like that.

good idea @tombstone - doing it right away :)

Nice. All's well that ends well!

Yes :) I am very happy to be inside Bitshares exchange now. Wow, it is fast!

I will accept your complaints in cartoon format only sir!!

well, I tried the bitshares chat first... but nobody answered, so I figured they probably all are on steemit :D

This place is faster and more effective then zendesk and twitter combined :D Mmmmm loving it :D

Oh, I approve of the method. I am just also registering my complaint :)

sometimes the bitshares chat is thin. As more and more people are engaged in bitshares these things should improve. We need a Bitshares squad now squashing these problems.

Just remember to create your backup (.bin) file and store it somewhere off your computer (plan for what happens when your HDD dies). Also, use a password manager to remember the password. There is no way to recover a lost wallet or password.
Happy trading and knowing that you'll never have any kind of breach or "haircut" like gox or Bitfinex.

Well, I really believe my openledger account last January smoothly. I kept my wallet in private and I have again taken up by these days the platform. The strange thing I have observed is only in firefox not retrieve my wallet file

I've had a OpenLedger Account and it works very smoothly. I'm very impressed about the following :
Security is on the browser
Easy to backup and reminders to backup regularly
Transfers in and out very fast
Huge range of assets
Trading facilities at very low cost
Easy to set up voting proxies

Overall very nice decentralized.
Learning new features everyday too!

Much safer is running standalone light client, which is basically the same GUI.

Yes, something is wrong with Firefox last week, we must wait for fix. Chrome or light client will import your backups without problem.

It really is a pain in the ass. Why is there no login button?

Seriously? Do you not see the lock icon in the upper right hand corner?

No, I don't dude.

It looks like you don't have an account. Or the wallet with your account is linked to a different browser on your computer. Keep in mind that bitshares wallets are browser-specific.

This is blockchain. You're using private key to authorize transactions.
If you're using Openledger your wallet is stored in browser cache.
The only way to "login" is import backup (bin file) or reacreate wallet from Brainkey (which should be wroted down somewhere and keeped in safe place.

good how to, thank you for share
