🗞 Microsoft To Implement Blockchain-Based ID System

Microsoft revealed its plans to integrate Blockchain-based decentralized IDs (DIDs) into its Microsoft Authenticator app, the company announced in a blog post Monday, Feb. 12.

As reported in the post, Microsoft is looking to provide new a model of digital identity that would not be controlled by any centralized institution and would guarantee fully private data storage, enabling the individual to have full control of “all elements of [their] digital identity.”

🗞 FBI Claims Arrested Cyber Crime Syndicate Co-Founder Medvedev Worth $800M+ in BTC

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has claimed that Sergey Sergeyvich Medvedev, a Russian national recently arrested in Bangkok, was the co-founder and second in command of the Infraud group – a notorious international cyber crime syndicate. It has been reported that at the time of his arrest, Mr. Medvedev was in possession of more than 100,000 bitcoins.

🗞 Dubai Issues License to Cryptocurrency Firm

The largest free economic zone in the UAE, with zero percent personal and corporate income tax, has started issuing licenses to firms trading cryptocurrencies. The first license has been issued to a gold trader that has recently started offering cryptocurrency services.

🗞 What to Expect When Congress Talks Blockchain Tomorrow

Two subcommittees in the U.S. House of Representatives will discuss potential applications for blockchain in government during a hearing on Wednesday.

“Beyond Bitcoin: Emerging Applications for Blockchain Technology,” scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 10 a.m. EST, is likely to constitute a broad overview of the technology – a key first step ahead of any possible action that focuses on the tech. Panelists will explain the basics of the technology before discussing how it can be used, said Brandon VerVelde, a spokesperson for the committee.

🗞 So Is There a Correlation Between Bitcoin and Stock Market? Yes, But No

Looking at the Bitcoin graph, and that of the stock market, including the Dow Jones and the S&P 500, you may have noted an interesting similarity. The stock market was growing to new heights rapidly, with even Donald Trump tweeting how it had risen 20 percent since his election. A little before these heights, Bitcoin had also surged up to its all-time high of $20,000 on Dec. 17.

If Microsoft is making moves to implement blockchain into an ID system, then that is one of the next big steps toward mass adoption. Large tech companies are coming to know to value that blockchain brings and can't deny but use it. @vlemon you are an incredible resource keeping us informed of current events. Keep rockin'.
