How many forks are too many?

Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin 2x, Bitcoin Silver…..

There seems to be an announcement weekly on potential forks for Bitcoin and it shows no sign of slowing down. A lot of people see the positives because it's free air dropped money but surly that has to damage the reputation of the Bitcoin network?

The current price of Bitcoin now shows that isn't the case currently, but if SegWit2x had of been implemented (I know a small number of people are actually going to go through with it anyway very soon) but the lack of replay protection could of caused serious issues. This is why the developers seen sense and called it off.

My question is how many is too many? 10, 20 100? and what impact, positive or negative do you think this could have on both the price and reputation of Bitcoin?
