Lightning Network Takes Off 2018-03-28 🚀 A Second Layer for the Internet of Value! 💰
Dear Steemit friends,
i reported onMarch 04. about current usage of Testnet and also Mainnet des Lightning Network. Today i'll give a update and compare with past numbers.. and maybe Binance is already present on LN? Let's see:
Testnet Usage

The numbers for nodes and channels are decreasing on Testnet in the last 24 days. That means interest for usage of the Testnet is lower, last time it stagnated. But that's not important because the usage of the Mainnet is much more important.. you'll see below in this article:

Mainnet Usage - what really counts!

The number of channels is increasing. But the number above is different or higher compared to lnmainnet.gaben.win. The old ideoflux-site is down and contained also the number of nodes. But the trend for both is clearly up! The Mainnet usage is increasing, maybe we see a shift of convinced Testnet users to the Mainnet which would be a good sign. Let's look at the pure numbers:

The following chart visualizes a minor slowdown of the development of new nodes:
but the channels are a bit faster than in last observed timeframe:
We see no exponential growth or something like a viral effect for the Lightning Network. It progesses forward without any hype. To get the right perspective the number of nodes increase with a factor of 3.5 in just 2 months!

Recent News!
Bitcoin Cash overtaken by Lightning Network
The Lightning Network is still very young but has already 61 more nodes(Stand des Artikel) than Bitcoin Cash. It demonstates again the strength of the Bitcoin Network which is exsisting for much longer time.
Lightning Apps - LApps
Blockstream makes now daily releases of apps which just working together with the Lightning Network.
Lost Transactions
Currently losses are possible because of the not fully developed application layer. That is also the reason developers advice to use just small amounts of Bitcoin for transactions. The funny thing about that is, that normally developers should do such things on testnet but many of them decided to play the real game on mainnet to feel also the real pain of losses like customers. I think that shows the commitment and a higher probability for success of the Lightning Network.

Binance on the Lightning Network?
By accident i discovered the node today. Is there any relation to the Binance exchange?
