Got Me Some Free Bitcoin (+10%) from the BitcoinCash ForksteemCreated with Sketch.

in bitcoin •  10 months ago

Earlier in the day, some people had their BitcoinCash (BCC/BCH) in their Bittrex wallets, but I didn't yet. So I went to do other things.

I recently checked my Bittrex wallet after forgetting about it for a few hours, and lo and behold I had BCC. On Bittrex, it's BCC, not BCH.

I don't really have an interest in BCC, so rather than hold, I SOLD!

Maybe it will go up more, maybe it would be better to hold.

Whatever. I sold, and I got 10% more Bitcoin :)

What did it cost me?

Nothing. 0.

Essentially, free Bitcoin.

I decided, hey, I'll let people know that I got free BTC, maybe they don't know they can do the same.

If you have a personal Bitcoin wallet with your own private keys, or you have BTC on an exchange that supports the new BitcoinCash, like kraken, bittrex or bitfinex, then you can essentially get free Bitcoin if you sell your BitcoinCash.

Enjoy the free BitcoinCash for holders, or Bitcoin for sellers. Go fork yourself! :P

Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.

Cryptopia has also split my Bitcoins, but they still frozen they said that due to hardfork the wallet will remain after 24-48 hours to ensure the fork has resolved and to be sure the network is safe.

·

Well they will be worth more later probably ;) I just sold because whatever. Plenty of people know more about BitcoinCash then I do.

Any ideas on how to capitalize if your BTC is on Paper Wallets?

·

If it's on a paper wallet, then you have a private key. You can send it to an exchange wallet to sell.

·
·

Thanks @krnel... a private key to an exchange, who woulda thunk! As simple as that... no risk?

·
·
·

I think that's not how you should do it. You should first move your BTC to a new wallet then use the private keys of your old wallet to move your BCC. This way you don't expose your BTC.

Don't quote me on this and I haven't done it yet so I can't really comment beside what I have read and think make sense.

I concur with teamsteem, you are essentially giving your bitcoin wallet away when you do this. So move your bitcoin out of that wallet first. I wnted to keep my on an exchange for a fast sell, but since bitshares might have also took a snapshot of the bitcoin block right then too, I opted to put it in a web wallet. Now I am having the same troubles figuring out how to get my BCH with my private keys.

·

I'm painfully ignorant on all of these keys issues...ughhh The learning curve is a bitch. If I'd only learned about all this a few years ago, not only would I be rich, but I'd also know what the fuck I'm doing lol! : 0

·
·
·
·

That makes a lot of sense for security... greatly appreciated @teamsteem

·

Your Bcash is technically on the blockchain, as all btc holders. You need to download a wallet that supports Bcash and export your private keys into it. Lots of youtube videos on how-to. good luck!

·
·

So then both your BTC and BCC are on the wallet?

·
·
·

@kyusho If you are on facebook, check out the group 'Bitcoin Cash'. Also on twitter, check 'Bitcoin cash' and 'Bitcoin Cash fans' feeds. They're really knowledgeable and can tell you what to do exactly. Luckily I was already on Kraken so I didn't have to do it the wallet way :)

Not sure you can say 10% FREE bitcoin. Since Bitcoin fell nearly the same amount that BCC is/was worth. (At least what I saw from the latest prices, wrote a short piece about the "CRASH" of BCC). Anyways, glad you're happy with your sale. keep going!

·

It's still 10% more Bitcoin even it it drops 99% in value lol.

https://www.coindesk.com/price/

Maybe 200 drop, 200/2900 is 6.8% drop. But I still got 10% more BTC. Prices go up and down. Before there was BCC, bitcoin was all over the place to, but getting more was still getting more BTC ;)

·
·

haha, ok, from that perspective you're right, I'm coming more from an absolute angle ;-) cheers mate!

I've been expecting BCC/BCH to fall because everybody would be selling like you. But lo and behold, plot twist: it's still rising

·

Yeah people like me are selling, and other people are buying ; ) They want it, so the price will keep going up as long as they are willing to buy more. Who knows where things go lol. I'm satisfied :)

·
·

Without someone selling no one would buy. So it's cool to see a new market developing. But I will wait a week and than I will decide to sell/buy or wait even more. :D

·

loving it! I think Kraken has stabilised now I am going to buy more

·
·

why? what makes you think it will rise?

·
·
·

Just a feeling. People can laugh at it but I do football picks all the time via intuition and get pretty good results!

·
·

Have at it if you have an interest in the coin ;)

Hey!! Free is Free right!! I would have made the same move and I'm sure many others are.
Good post thanks for sharing.

Congratulation to your earning free 10%! I have a small amount of BTC on Bitfinex, but now they haven't show BCC yet!

·

Wait and cash in later. I didn't care lol. It was up to 0.4 BTC before. Who knows where it goes.

·
·

Yesterday, it was around $600! Today, it is around $469! Do you think it is a pump and dump?

·
·
·

I sold below that lol, but when coins start up they usually go up then down, then ... who knows..

How do I claim my bitcoin cash from a software wallet? Do I just need to install a bitcoin cash wallet and use the same wallet.dat file?

·

Do some googling ;)

I got to check my account!! :))

Hmm! interesting!
So I can create a wallet in one of these exchanges, convert Steem to BitcoinCash, and then buy Bitcoin ?! Is it?
My experience with cryptos is very little, it was nice someone explains how this works!

·

That won't get you free anything, that's just converting your steem to other currency.

·
·

Then How it works? 😊

kernel,
I have a biotin.info wallet and am not sure how to get my bcc out of it.
I seen this so I know it can be done just notsure how to go about it.

I would like to basically do the same as you did. sell my bbc for bitcoins.
im hoping it wont be to late by the time I figure out how to do it.
:/
any help would be appericated.

·

Which wallet do you have? blockchain.info?

·
·

yeah
blockchain.info

·
·
·

I think that they didn't split the Bitcoin ! I read it in their post :
"In the event of two separate blockchains after August 1, 2017 we will support the longest chain. As of today, we have no immediate plans to fully support the Bitcoin Cash fork within our main product."
https://blog.blockchain.com/2017/07/30/bitcoin-cash-hard-fork-blockchain-users/

·
·
·
·

damn that's fuqed.
I left it in there cause I read a post on steemit saying bitcoin.info would be giving us both bitcoins.
So I cant generate a private key and get the bitcoin cash from the blockchain?
:(

I have some BTC on blockchain app, any idea how to sell my BCC???

People like you who fail to do research and just sell to make a quick buck are the reason the people are losing control of Bitcoin.

Smh.

·

Isn't that why there are people like you buying because you do like the coin, and want to support it? So you win out, while I just sell it because I wanted bitcoin instead. In order for people to buy, others sell. Or should everyone just hold and no one sell on the markets?

Better to fork yourself, then somebody else doing it

fre.gif

Le BCC va prendre de la valeur et apres on vend tu sais c'est mieux de garder quelques chose en souvenir on sait jamais. Merci.

In french

This is awesome, will try it out. However conbase dont support the new bitcoin isnt it?

·

Nope, you needed to move it out first, then your private wallet would have it if you have the key, go to a BCC wallet and then you have it.

·
·

Any suggestion? I have only Coinbase, Blockchain and Xapo

·
·
·

You're blockchain wallet might give you access to the forked wallet in BCC.

·
·
·
·

Great, will check it out

Thank you for sharing the information, friend
