How to find interesting long term crypto investments
How to find interesting long term crypto investments
Hi, Iam new to Steemit, a great site to meet fellow crypto and block chain interested people! Iam active in the crypto trading world for a long time now and want to share my bit to the community.
You will find my kind of view in this article to find interesting long term crypto investments. Don’t buy coins/tokens without doing research and don’t invest money that you can’t lose!
How to start?
The first site I want to mention is CoinMarketCap.com and CoinCap.io. By far the most used websites by traders where you can find over 1220 cryptocurrencies in 6914 different markets (at this time).
You can use filters to make a selection of the Market Cap (coins or tokens), Trade Volume (24 hour or monthly) and Trending (Gainers and Losers, recently added).
But before we find interesting ones, learn about how the Market Cap, Price and Circulating Supply works.
Like they described it on their FAQ page, Market Capitalization is one way to rank the relative size of a cryptocurrency. It's calculated by multiplying the Price by the Circulating Supply.
Market Cap = Price X Circulating Supply
The next step
Open the Market Cap page again and find any coins that have a circulating supply below 100 Million. Besides look at the Price if it’s between 0.01 and 15 dollar. For example:
Save the link of a few coins in your Internet Explorer favorites and learn more about the charts, markets and social activity to get a good first impression. Then on this page starts the research:
Click on ‘Announcement’ to see what anyone has to say about the project. They have an own forum topic where you can reply on.
Bitcointalk.org is a very popular forum where many people come and discuss about bitcoin and altcoins. Read anything about mining, project development and even ICO’s where you can anticipate.
Click on ‘Website’ to evaluate their branding, don’t forget to read the white paper if it’s interesting to you. Mostly they include a timeline with important release dates.
Some projects have already created a working product or service, just try this out to understand the concept better.
Who is behind the project?
Don’t invest your money yet, let’s see who is behind a coin or token first. Who are the members of the team? Are they well known in the cryptocurrency world? What did they have accomplished and who is backing them.
A team consist of well-known figures can quickly become a success if many people know about it. People are then more inclined to invest in it.
Buy the rumors, sell the news
In this highly speculative market you need to know what the community thinks about the project. They might have information to leads to great success or failure of a project.
Visit bitcointalk, Reddit or their social media channels. Some of them even have a Telegram group. Dig deep enough to find out about rumors or upcoming release dates.
Ready to buy? Look at the charts carefully and buy the dips.
I hope i haven't missed anything. Please feel free to correct me with valid points. Also let me know your thoughts about this article in the comment section below.
