randowhale vs. whaleshares: Round 2!

in #beyondbitcoin7 years ago (edited)

@randowhale vs. whaleshares (@officialfuzzy)

On the last episode of randowhale vs. whaleshares we pitted these two innovative services against eachother.  Whaleshares barely took the win as it had more bang for your buck.

The positives and negatives have already been covered, so I'm not going to comment on it. Theoretically these two services can be almost  perfectly compared in this regard.

Today, I managed to find these two excellent posts with the same exact value!  I feel they both deserve more than they received so far.  Go ahead and show them some love :-).

I decided to give a 50% vote from whaleshares since it's pretty close to what you would statistically expect from randowhale on average.

The bitshares transaction went smoothly and the post received a vote from @officialfuzzy very quickly!

The randowhale ended up giving the lucky 29% this time around.

There was a bit of a mishap when summoning the randowhale.  I'll get more into that later.

Randowhale:

From .69 to 2.38.  It's pretty cool that a little minnow like me can make a $1.69 difference using randowhale.  However, the 29% vote is not worth the 2SBD that it cost.

Whaleshares:

From .69 to 8.01.  WOW I did not expect a $7.32 difference with just 50% from @officialfuzzy for 50 whaleshares.

Yesterday the randowhale cost 1SBD.  I knew this number would change based on supply and demand so I checked to see if any new posts were made.  Nothing new, so I went ahead and sent my 1SBD and waited... and waited.  Perhaps I should have looked closer.  Apparently the price was doubled without an updated post.  There was only a simple edit to the original post.  This vote cost me a total of 3SBD in the end.

Someone brought up a point that voting power percentage can have an effect on the outcome of the vote.  I don't know exactly how this works, so I will drop the snapshots here for your consideration.

Round 2 was a complete knockout!

The whaleshares vote was worth a lot more and I didn't have to pay for it at all!  I simply received my shares as a giveaway.

*The random element in randowhale was a major liability.  Since the price increased it didn't even satisfy what I paid for it.
*By overlooking the price change, the randowhale transaction became more costly, difficult and time consuming than whaleshares.
*Bottom line cash value still gives whaleshares a commanding lead.  $7.32 vs -$1.31 ($2.31 vote -$2 charge and 1$ mistake)  YES I LOST MONEY ON THIS.
*last round I forgot to mention that randowhale leaves a comment when it votes.  How cool is that!

Feel free to tell me what you guys think and let me know what your experience is with these services.

I will not be doing a round 3 unless randowhale makes a lot of improvements
It's simply not worth the risk at this point, I will tip people instead.

As always,

Thanks for stopping by
Good Luck and Enjoy!

It's all for fun. If you make a lil sumthin sumthin. Congratulations. Me, I'll keep my dayjob for now. All the best to everyone!

I tried randowhale on my 4 posts (total 8 sbd) and only got the roi.

Today, on one of my post I got only 6$ for 99% vote, I was like what the fuck as yesterday one user got around 20$ for 59% vote. So I was kinda sad.

Then I realized that, if the pending payout is bigger then randowhale's vote will make huge difference otherwise not much.

So maybe thats where whaleshares takes a step ahead, I suppose?

Interesting. I don't know exactly how the calculation works. But I can see from using the exact same starting value which one is better ;-)

Think of it this way: one is made to build communities...the other is to gamble (and take a big rake from those gambling)

It is no contest.

Yes, it's truly no contest.

Yep. Both have completely different uses. :)

@officialfuzzy I get what you are saying but don't you think randowhale is affordable while whaleshares is not

From my experience, randowhale is not worth it's cost.

Can you elaborate a bit please?

I went over my two experiences in my 2 posts.
$1.60 value on the first attempt ($2.60 vote -$1 charge)
-$1.31 value on my second attempt ($2.31 vote -$2 charge and 1$ mistake)
The value would be higher if I had a higher payout post to begin with.
However, a minnow noob like me doesn't get posts worth more than $20 each.
Regardless, the same rule applies for whaleshares. @officialfuzzy vote is just worth WAY more and does not cost 2SBD for a random number.

How much whaleshares costs

I got mine for free during a givaway. They can be earned by contests as well. I don't know what the actual BTS value is.

I just wish they would have called it casinowhale or something. :)

hahahhaaha seriously

Nice information, thanks for sharing your experience in this matter!

Gladly. Hope it helps you in some way.

I am always looking forward to reading your posts! This was another great experiment, thank you!

I'm glad to hear that. The best part about this one is I got to give a lot of value to posts that I felt truly deserved it.

It is nice to be able to make a difference.

Great post, @akrid keep them coming you know my stance on randomwhale lol

Thanks, will do!

Randowhale....well looks like we know whaleshares doesnt seem to be colluding too much compared to the "randowhale" that obfuscates to hide the fact that u give too much in return.
