Brother Soigné - Grassroots Brewing

Beer Review

Brother Soigné is a 5% alcohol/volume Farmhouse Ale/Saison brewed by Grassroots Brewing, a subsidiary of Hill Farmstead in Greensboro Bend, Vermont. The Hill Farmstead is a revival of tradition that went back over 200 years. In 2010, Shaun Hill brewed the first batch of 'Edward' at what now became Hill Farmstead brewery. It was in the spirit of heritage that Hill Farmstead was launched, to create craft brews just like the Hill family did for centuries in North Greensboro, Vermont. Last month I stopped by the Hill Farmstead and grabbed a bottle of the Brother Soigné on my way home from Jay Peak. It is a tart, refreshing saison brewed in colloboration with Luc Bim Lafontaine, formerly of Dieu du Ciel. The Hill Farmstead brewery is located on farmland at the top of a hill. The brew and tap room were clean and impressive... and the beer was delicious!

"Informed by travel and friendship, Grassroots Brewing creates artisan ales inspired by experience and imagination."

The Bottle

The Brother Soigné was served in a nice 750ml glass bottle. The label was fairly simple and green. The logo was a G wrapped around a beer glass. The description of the beer was simple yet appetizing. A Farmstead Ale brewed with Lime and Blood Orange.

The Beer

I enjoyed the Brother Soigné on @kirm-it's back deck with @ndre1224, @susie-anthony and Nick Capalbo. It was a beautiful Spring day for a beer share. The beer was definitely tart from the lime, hibiscus and blood orange, but it was certainly very refreshing. I thought it was a great beer to enjoy outside on a sunny day. It was light but the fruity flavors really excite the palate. Overall a delicious saison-style brew. I look forward to trying more beers from the Hill Farmstead in the future.
