Anna - Hill Farmstead - Beer Review
Anna - Hill Farmstead
Beer Review
Anna is a 6.4% alcohol/volume Saison / Golden Farmhouse Ale brewed by Hill Farmstead in Greensboro Bend, Vermont. The Hill Farmstead is a revival of tradition that went back over 200 years. In 2010, Shaun Hill brewed the first batch of 'Edward' at what now became Hill Farmstead brewery. It was in the spirit of heritage that Hill Farmstead was launched, to create craft brews just like the Hill family did for centuries in North Greensboro, Vermont. I stopped by the Hill Farmstead on my way home from Jay Peak in April and snagged a bottle of the Anna. Advertised as a Vermont Honey Ale, the Anna commemorates Shaun's grandfather's sister, who lived with her 13 siblings upon the land in which the brewery operates.

The Bottle
The Anna is served in a 750ml corked glass bottle. It has a golden label which helps to portray the golden deliciousness inside. The side of the label reads the following:
"Hill Farmstead Brewery is the culmination of travel and insight, of friendships and explorations, and of realizing a sense of one’s place. Upon the hand hewn land of our forebears, we honor eight generations of Greensboro ancestry by thoughtfully engaging with our heritage and with the spirit of our artisanal farmstead ales. This offering is our effort to revive, diversify and prolong the memory of the Hill Farmstead. Share. Consider. Enjoy.”

The Beer
The Anna was a bright golden color when I poured it into my Hill Farmstead glass. A nice head of bubbles formed at the top of the glass. The Anna is a Farmhouse-style ale that is crafted from American malted barley, European and American hops, Vermont Wildflower Honey, Hill Farmstead's signature yeast and naturally carbonated well-water. It's unfiltered and full of flavor. Overall it's a truly delicious beer. I look forward to trying more beers from the Hill Farmstead in the future.

This looks really tasty! Was it super hoppy, or was it more mellow? Was the honey flavor prominent or more subtle? It definitely looks like something I would want to try someday.
I would say the honey flavor is prominent but not overpowering. It's sweet yet tart at the same time. Definitely an interesting style
Very cool! I always enjoy finding hidden gems like that.
