#BeerSaturday: Session Pale Ale
Hello everyone!
It’s Saturday again, yay! Even better, it’s also a #Caturday
AND a #BeerSaturday
!
But let’s focus on the latter one this time.
After another great working week, with lots of work done and progress made, I feel that I deserve a relaxing weekend. And a small reward, shaped like a small beer bottle. :)
What attracted me to this beer in the first place was its cute stubby 33 cl bottle, with a funky label, featuring industrial elements. If you are a regular follower of my blog, then you may remember that another beer that I like had some Industrial Age label as part of its design. Yes, I’m a big sucker for visual design, people!
Let’s start with the name. Why Sessions? Well, believe it or not, but up until 1988 (sic!) British working class lads and lasses wouldn’t give up their right to drink ale – even during working hours! Astonishingly, British law of the time allotted two 4-hour sessions each day, when workers could legally drink low-percentage alcohol brews on the job, to quech their thirst. Can you believe that?? Of course, we live in a different world today. But old brewing traditions live on and this type of low-alcohol pale ale is still enjoyed by many people around the world. It was brought to Sweden by Brutal Brewing (now part of Spendrups).
Now let’s talk about its taste. Let’s open the bottle by twisting off the cap…
…and pour ourselves a glass:
Nice!
I found it funny that it was called ‘pale ale’. Because it is actually brewed with both light and dark caramel malts – and you can see it in its lovely amber colour. It is tasteful, with fruity and fresh-bread undertone. You can smell hops in it. It brings you back to hot summer days in England, when working class people toiled in factories every day, instead of going on vacation to another country. This beer was a small consolation and a reward for their hard labour.
Today you can enjoy this excellent beer anytime you want – except during your working hours, of course! ;) And always in moderation. Please remember that too.
I hope you enjoyed this episode of Beer Saturday with me, Oleg. Please leave a comment, if you did. Shout-out goes to @detlev, who started this entire
#BeerSaturday
project. I hope he will write a post today too!
Oleg!
So first of all, my mind is blown that beer is a category! That's just... amazing!
I love how you intertwined the history of this label into your story, it was fascinating! The fact that it was legal to drink while working is an interesting concept. It appears that when you ban alcohol in any aspect, people end up abusing it. I think we should try it out for a day or two and see what happens to production levels. I bet you people would be nicer to each other ;) I used to drink on the job... oh the good old bartending days... my boss told me once to come in sober... after that shift he gave me an open tab every night :P
hope you're having a great day!
XO
Hi Cece! Wow, what a story! Drinking on the job OR having an open tab after! Nice! :)
I am enjoying a calm and relaxing day, thank you. I am meeting a friend from work, @anton987, in half an hour. We are meeting in my favourite vegetarian organic café in town. We will eat delicious soup with freshly baked sour-dough bread, drink organic Direct Trade coffee and chat about Steemit, cryptocurrencies and life. I am looking forward to it! And now I have to get up and running. :)
I hope you are having a lovely day today too! Enjoy a glass of beer, if you like! ;) hugs

Looks like a solid beer. From a working class British lad, who refused to be told when I can and cant drink (except by the wife)
Now, I'm not a beer drinker because I like all my drinks to be sweet, overwhelming sweet like me :) With that mind, when you say fruity and fresh-bread undertone how close to a bubble glass of of Muscato would you compare it to?
It would be a more bitter version of Muscato, I would say. :)
I like my alcohol to sweet too. :) I usually drink sweet red or white wine or apple cider. It took me a while to get used to the taste of beer. I only started drinking beer two years ago, when I was in Japan, because I liked the taste of Asahi Super Dry. My other favourite Japanese alcohol drinks are plum wine, umeshi, and the famous sake, rice wine. Both sweet, especially umeshi. I am sure you will like them, sweet Kubby, if you get a chance to try them. ;)
I see what you did there in the end slik ole. When you say sweet red or white wine or apple cider which one do you enjoy? I do not like sake or most Chinese alcohol it has a strong ginger like taste I don't care for 🤷🏽♀️ I might be a lost cause, but maybe not. Help a sister out!
Whooot, great post, got my upvote!!!
Hehe, thank you, BierMeister! ;)

I’ll buy you a beer when the waiting is over! With SBD, of course! ;)
By the way, man, any good Korean beer you can recommend? Like, what’s your favourite? I’m gonna try it, when I’m in Seoul in two weeks.
Honestly Korean beer are not really great. We are known for soju. Its super cheap and pretty strong. Dude! I think wecmust have a little steemit meet up. I'll go to Seoul and we hang and chill a bit! Yes!?!? Then we can post about it =P
Oh, it would be A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! What date will work for you?
Stay strong!
Always! Thanks! How is your week going so far?
Some push back. Because I’m not willing to eat as much I am getting the “you don’t like my cooking. . .” Out of that and some other conversions it’s been a hit or misses on eating smaller portion sizes. I woke up this morning, and cannot wait for people to leave so I can get on the treadmill. I am looking forward to it. Still the same weight but honestly I was expecting to gain so I am happy.
nice beer!
Yes, it was! Thank you! :)
beer domination here these days
Nah, cats still rule… #CatsRule!
Feels like oleg326756 was inside my brain. Was scrolling down past the glass of beer and I just see “nice,” yes indeed. I don’t drink very often either.
