BeachWednesday - My Local Haunt Winklespruit Beach

Taking a day to reflect on going to the beach with my Rhodesian Ridgebacks for their weekly walk on the beach. Rain or shine we went to the beach from the early 80's to recently with the dogs, alas now they are chasing their dreams in the cloud.

We always take the same route, the dogs dictate that the route is south bound towards the railway bridge over the Illovo River. Why they always go the same way, you might ask, well they run free and check every dune and leaf (to have a pee of course). Perhaps they pick up the scent of other dogs who have gone this way earlier. No wonder the plants thrive so well... just thinking aloud.

Once we reach the rail bridge they love to sniff around, swim in the river and tease each other with whatever is laying around, you know that goofy stuff dogs just do. We normally cross the river if it is not too wild over to the other side and walk further down to the rocks.

Dogs doing Goofy Stuff on the beach anything goes....

When it is low tide often pools show with small fish and sea weed floating around, at high tide these rock can be completely submerged and when the powers that be decide to dump more sand out of the sea they get buried for period of time.

Arriving early is the only time for a two hour walk before the sun blazed down and your feet get burned on the hot sand, so normally seven to nine in the morning was the time of walks. Not one to be photographed very often a pic of me with bush hat, a must in the sun. Not sure who called for a break here....

On our return jouney I came upon a jelly fish and took a quick click, we don't see them beach here very often.

Going 'up' the beach a photo looking up the coast at Doonside and Amanzimtoti, with the Bluff in the background which is just before you reach the city of Durban about a thirty minute drive on a good day (traffic wise).

This is where we leave you and go back home to shower down and rest up, the dogs in the sun drying out and me well a cuppa coffee and put the feet up.
