Steem Basic Income
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.
Delegation Bonus Shares
Existing members can receive bonus shares from delegation. For every 20 SP delegated to @steembasicincome, members will receive 1 bonus share. These bonus shares will be removed if the delegation is withdrawn. Currently each share in pool 1 receives a weekly voting weight of roughly 1.56%.
@sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, and @sbi6 are managed to target multiples (e.g. 200 shares ~ 400 SP, 500 shares ~1000 SP, etc.) For this reason we ask that members that are delegating for bonus shares always delegate to pool 1 and we will manage the SP flow into the lower pools appropriately. If you want to fill SP orders through minnowbooster's market, you are of course welcome to fill the orders going to lower pools. Please do not combine filling orders for pool 1 (@steembasicincome) with delegating for bonus shares.

Any Steemian that is already enrolled in @steembasicincome can delegate as much as they would like, to receive bonus shares. If you are not already a member but would like to delegate, please send an enrollment transaction to @steembasicincome and we will add your bonus shares at the time we process your enrollment.

Enrollment
If this sounds interesting and you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:
Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We accept SBD at our discretion (usually when they're very close, or when SBD is stronger) but you do not receive extra value or any partial refund for paying in SBD instead of STEEM. If we choose to accept an SBD enrollment, we accept the entire amount. If we choose to reject it, we refund the entire amount and request you to send STEEM instead.

Hey there! I have a question. I have a running contest with SBI as an award. I would like to up the number of shares I give away. However, the one I purchased last I didn't get a confirmation on. How do I confirm SBI is in effect? How long does it usually take to be added to a pool. I think before it took only a couple of days. I think this is my second time buying a share for someone.
I'm trying to learn what to expect so I don't feel like I bought a package that is stuck in the mail lololololol
The only get notified upon your first purchase, the rest usually takes one to two days to get updated but expect a little delay right now because the boss was just at the creators conference and is a little backed up.
Thanks for your help, @dynamicrypto! @omitaylor, he is correct; we're a little more backlogged right now because of the #steemcreators conference. Enrollment automation is almost done (huge time-saver even before the rest of our voting engine is complete) but for now it's still a manual process. I've finished the data pull and everything through tonight is in the sheet, but it will be tomorrow before I get all the new rules in place. Still, check out the sheet explained here to ensure that the share counts look accurate and respond here or reach out to me in the Discord if they don't look right.

That's in our feature list for the first round of enhancements after core functions are automated. It has a way for me to do that already (in testing) but it will take longer to make an outward facing user interface.

Man I would love to get involved with this but its ever so confusing for new people.. I honestly don't know where to start.
I have 500 sp to delegate, I know it isn't much but I want to use to earn steem while i am away from it.
I am not that lucky with my posts.. Dsound serve me well but the rest dont look at me. So instead of taking the time to present a quality post for a few bucks I would rather delegate and not worry about a couple of quid every day.
Im sure i can provide a free 6 pint of milk a week for myself with my delegation somewhere?

The way our program works, you would still need to post at least once a week. In the future we will start supporting comments too, but that's not quite ready for release.
If it still sounds interesting, you can join by sending 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome, with the @username in the transaction memo of somebody you would like to support. then send your delegation after that and you will get the delegation boost on the upvotes you receive from us.
If you don't plan to even post once per week, you could always help by delegating through the @minnowbooster delegation market. We place a lot of delegation orders for our various pool accounts (usually for several months or more) through their market, and you can provide some support while earning a truly passive income.

If you are delegating for bonus shares, then yes, absolutely. We manage the SP on the remaining pools through delegation leases, and it's a lot easier to track if we're only looking for direct delegation for bonus shares on the main account.
Hi I was wondering how long the verification process usually takes.?
We were a little more backlogged than normal this weekend because of #steemcreators conference. Enrollments through about 24 hrs ago are set up for voting now and confirmation transactions are going out soon.
Enrollments after that will be caught up again by Thursday, most likely. After that it will settle into our normal 2-3 days maximum delay on initial enrollments until the enrollment automation is fully deployed.

Your sponsee has received their confirmation/welcome message. Since you already had one share, you will not receive a separate transaction confirmation, but I now have you at 2 shares.
