New Transaction Memo Guidelines

As we make progress toward full automation, we have finalized the new transaction memo guidelines.

You only need the @ and username of your sponsee in the transaction memo (e.g. @josephsavage). It's fine to send a list, but we prefer a comma after each name. (@josephsavage, @sneakyninja). Please keep a balanced share count per member if you send a list (i.e. 2 STEEM with 2 names, 6 STEEM with 3 names, 9 STEEM with 3 names, etc.). If you want to sponsor multiple members with different share counts, please break it into separate transactions.

These examples are both perfect! Comma separated @ list, with the number of sponsees matching the amount of STEEM, or separate transactions with 1 STEEM sent for each member are both perfect. Model your transactions after either of these and you will be fine!

This is great, too! We will recognize the 5 STEEM and add five shares to both sponsor and sponsee!

These were fine during manual processing, but to simplify the development for automation, we need a more consistent format. Specifying 'sponsorship' or explaining your transaction is no needed. Please include the @ as it signifies definitively that it's a user-name.

These new guidelines facilitate the automation for enrollments. We are making good progress toward automation, but enrollments are currently processed manually. There may be some delay before you receive confirmation or adjustment to your voting weights.

Steem Creators Conference

We are pleased to have been invited to speak at the Steem Creators Conference in Las Vegas next month. Learn all about it at https://www.steemcreators.com/ Mark your calendars and book your tickets, this is going to be an awesome event! (Look for our name on the registration page to get a $25 discount on your tickets.)

Enrollment

If this sounds interesting and you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We accept SBD at our discretion (usually when they're very close, or when SBD is stronger) but you do not receive extra value or any partial refund for paying in SBD instead of STEEM. If we choose to accept an SBD enrollment, we accept the entire amount. If we choose to reject it, we refund the entire amount and request you to send STEEM instead.

Questions?

We broke down the mechanics for how the program works in the complete overview. You can check your share counts and upvoting weight in our spreadsheet explained here. If you have any questions, ask away in the comments section or join us in our discord channel.

I just sponsored @dobartim but I had Tom do it with sbd. Is that acceptable?

I think they are only excepting steen as sbd is worth less than steem. You will probably get a refund

Yep, you were right. I converted some sbd to steem and resubmitted.

How much would be my income from you if I send 1 STEEM and sponsor someone random? What does 1 share mean?

1 share is an indication of your level of subscription to the upvote service. Currently it rewards an upvote value of roughly $0.08 per week.

so it'd take roughly 1 year to earn back your subscription? Also once you sponsor, does your sponsorship remain for the rest of time, or is there a certain point at which it becomes inactive?

It remains active as long as you are active. We remove members after six months of inactivity. We may also remove members for plagiarism, but we would typically provide a refund in those circumstances. We would also reactivate a member that was deactivated after six months absence, on their request, but that has never happened yet.

1 year to earn back is not bad. That's a very high return actually. But this is only a recommended service for active steem members. Otherwise you won't earn such return.

Always nice to be used as a good example :)

Hah :D

Looks like you're romping away with it @fullcoverbetting. 😁

Trying to do my best Gillian! Nothing more, nothing less!

Bonjour, désolé je parle que français, et j'ai pas discord. J'ai envoyé 2 steems en 2 lignes différentes il y a 8 jours, et pas de confirmation. Y'a t'il un problème? Merci de votre réponse

What happens what you write a wrong name and sbi asks to confirm the user? How can I correct that?

Send a transaction memo with 'wrongname should have been rightname'

Ooops, just found this post. I just sent a transfer and did not include the @
What should I do?

Don't stress. We are tightening up the guidelines in advance of automation so that more transactions are processed correctly in our testing, and to help members develop the habit before we go live. We are still processing manually, and yours will be in the next batch.

Hmmm. I sent you 1 Steem and sponsored someone. Do I also get upvotes ?

Once your enrolling transaction has been processed. Enrollments are still processed manually, so there is usually a little delay.

We already have a good example...
i like your post.
Thank for sharing

Thanks for this post and the explanations. I would like to add 1 share to someone who already has 1 share. Do I do this from my wallet?
Maybe I can answer my own question, do it from within the wallet .. but is it okay to do this from Busy.Org? Battling to connect to Steemit or SteemConnect.

You can do it from any reputable interface that connects to the Steem blockchain and sends 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome, with the appropriate transaction memo.

We are completely agnostic to what tools you use to connect to Steem, we just check for valid transactions.

I just enrolled in one share of steembasicincome ;) great stuff... and with automation would be even better

Yes, we're definitely very excited for automation!
