Balkano survivor pt10: Abandoned barracks and military bases
Hello, sisters and brothers Steemers, welcome to Balkans Peninsula once again!
I made a little break with my "Balkano survivor" series and now it's time to continue. Today I will talk about abandoned barracks and military bases.
These buildings and complexes were built in the time of former country Yugoslavia and the most of them have no any function today. The buildings are empty, full of trash, neglected and dilapidated.
The people who built this were obsessed by military control of everything and everyone. That's why we have really a lot of these abandoned barracks around our cities. I know that there should be more of them on the map below, but I marked only four that are the largest.
We had compulsory military service until 10 years ago, so some of these military bases were in use.
Today, the most of these complexes are ownership of Catholic Church and they are not doing much with these places with huge potential.
OK, they allowed us to have a big music festival in one of the bases, but few years after they chased us away. And we have an elementary school in one military building, of course, that's Catholic Private School. The part of one former military base is turned to quarry and that's it! The rest collapses!

These bases have huge capacity.
In each of them were thousands of soldiers and all their arms. And nobody sees that, nobody wants to make something of them, nobody wants to invest and make something better for all of us.
This space could be used in many ways. From time to time, some citizens initiatives can get some building or a hangar to organize a concert, but if you don't have enough money - forget about it!

We have few military bases just next to sea.
City authorities renewed one part of this base to make a little beach. But still, the most of the space and buildings are not used. And a lot of people avoid to come to swim or sunbath here because these hangars look like ghost - houses.

These spaces could be perfect for something big and interesting but simple and cheap! Something for young people.
Nobody actually cares for them and doesn't give the opportunity. Bit in right hands, this could turn to something great!
Possible a camp? Maybe Steem Camp? I would like to hear your thoughts about this!
