Balkano survivor pt5: City market place

This is the place where you can get natural, domestic and the most healthier food in the city. I think that every city on Balkans has one of these. These fruits and vegetables are fresh and without any additives or chemicals. People who sell these product here are actually growing them, so these are their own product. You can't get better of this. You buy food directly from the producer and quality is guaranteed.

You can see here parsley, celery, leek, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes and cauliflower. Some of these were grown in the hothouse, some were grown outdoor.

We are very proud on our onion and garlic. You can get these domestic onions for 6 kn/kilo, which is about 0.9€. But they won't mind if you ask them to sell it for 0.6€!

The garlic is small sized, but it has really strong taste, much stronger than imported garlic from the supermarket.

You can bargain with anyone here. These people do not have to give you a receive or any kind of paper proof that you bought something from them. This is a tax - free market place, so the prices are adjustable!

We have really good domestic pomegranates, lemons, oranges and rowan and all of this was grown in the radius of 30 km from here.

Pumpkins, melons, dried figs, cabbage, cycle, garlic...

The fish market is also here! All these fish is fresh and was swimming in the sea only few hours ago. We live by the sea so we cannot allow to ourselves to buy frozen fish or fish from supermarket.

You can also bargain here and if you are skilled in that, you can get anything for the half of price. The people who sell the fish here are fisherman themselves or members of their families. In most cases, it goes like this: A husband comes from the sea early in the morning. His wife waits for him and takes the fish from him, goes with the fish directly on fish market to sell it. So, it can't be more fresh!

On the market place you can also find a lot of herbs. Don't miss the domestic honey!

If you ever come to Croatia or in any other country on Balkans Peninsula, try to buy some food on the city market place. You will it much fresher and cheaper than in any supermarket!
