Responding to the call; back to steemit

in #backtosteemit5 years ago
I really had a bad experience in the bear market that I don’t even know where to start from, OK I’ll start from when joined the steemit platform. I actually joined steemit in June 2018 few months after I started my NYSC program, but then I don’t have the right information to guide me through the use of the platform. I just used to go online to check people’s posts and that was it. Until November 2018, I met this wonderful friend @donnest who started putting me through the platform and showed me things to do so I can earn. I started earning steem through the @originalworks writing contest when 1 steem amounts to 280 NGN. As I was earning from the contest, I also felt there is tendency of a hike in the bear market by December so I decided to invest my savings from NYSC allowances in steem so I can have enough to sell and possibly make profit during the Christmas period. Lo and behold crypto started dropping in price, I was so scared so I refused to sell even when 1 steem was 150 NGN, I felt It will rise again so I waited and waited until 1 steem became 65 NGN, sincerely I cried because it was the wrongest investment I’ve ever ventured into. I couldn’t celebrate Christmas the way I had projected it, in fact I didn’t celebrate Christmas at all. So finally in January, I was so broke that I had to sell part of my steem to get little change for survival, so I sold at the rate of 125NGN/1steem. Though I wasn’t happy because I knew I was losing money, but yet at that point, I had no choice because I needed the money.

The greatest joy in my heart today is that I have life and I successfully completed my program on the 14th of March 2019 in good health, despite the fact that I lost some money, I didn’t lose my life in the process. Two lessons I learnt from this:

  1. Do not invest your savings in a business you are not in charge of, it can drag you 10 times backward.

  2. Always have an alternative/backup plan when planning for anything (Something to fall back at, in case your original plan fails).

I'm saying a big thank you and a job well done to @infovore for this great innovation
