Auction - 226
I went to an auction yesterday. I did actually win a bid. I think I probably should have won 2 bids or more but I only bid once. I was probably being overly cautious since it was my first time. Overall it was pretty fun especially since it was a new experience and the first professional auction I have ever been to. This auction was pretty cool since most of the night there were 3 auctioneers working at the same time.

Congrats. I was big in Tax Lien Sales for a while but took some big loses and didn't maximize the gains I should have.
Where you buying cars and boats and stuff?
Tax liens is a way to pay someone's taxes and in SC you get 12% return prorated quarterly. If they don't pay you back you are deeded the property.
Going once, going twice, gone.
Very cool ... what did you end up buying ?
See any items that stood out from the rest ?
I'll have to post pics tomorrow I guess.
Yeah an old bb gun sold for over $200 and there was some figurines that looked interesting and some sold well. There was a lot of interesting stuff but most of the stuff I did not want to own. I could have bought a bear lamp for $3. I probably should have bought that for someone or to resell.

Isn't 200 USD for an old BB gun a bit much?
Pricing is "tricky" when it comes to collectibles. $200 for a bb gun seems a lot better than some of the stuff I have seen. I would probably not want to pay more than $5 for a collectible. lol I assume the bb gun still worked so that makes it a lot better.
I went to my first auction last month. It was totally wild. I could not believe the prices people were paying for some things...more that going rate!
Did you get any pics or make a post about it? I might go every week to this auction if things work out.
It did seem like most stuff you could buy for $1 at a garage sale was selling for about $5.
I did a quick post about it but haven’t done a big detailed one on it yet. I will eventually. Lol

I was shocked. These people were paying such high prices on some things. The Comics and toys were fetching stupid amounts.
Have you been to any flea markets? There are some very high prices paid at some flea markets in various states like California and New York and even Ohio. Some collectible pottery sells for $1,000 in Ohio!
Hey @mysearchisover, it was nice talking to ya on this stuff. Sorry if my content wasn’t up your alley. Take care brother and I’m sure I’ll see ya around.
I don’t really get to em often anymore. I used to before I had my shop. Now time does not really allow me sadly.
Damn! Pottery is another category I know nothing about.
Funny I spent my whole life involved in collectibles. Comics, cards, toys, statues, comic art. I am super knowledgeable on those types but there is still an entire world of collectibles I know literally nothing about.
What did you buy?
I bought a random mixture of stuff for only $3. I did very well.
