"The Endangered Island - [OC] Graphic Design for Steemit

in #artwork7 years ago (edited)

endangered_island.jpg

My second steemit themed piece of graphic design! It's been a while since I've tried my hand at that discipline so here goes! Produced using Photoshop CC, attempted to go for a more retro/bold look with complimentary colours. Silhouettes are a fun device too, the island is actually the same one from my first steemit comic "Shipwrecked"! The ocean kinda represents the blockchain, once you've scratched the surface there is a flurry of life and activity underneath! I also imagined it to be a foldable card, hence the black line running through the middle. Desperately trying to remember what I wrote the first time.

Edit: I accidentally deleted my original text for this one, needa write it again! My bad guys.

I know this ship like the back of my hand bonk,

Really nice designs. And it speaks for itself too.perfect illusration

cheers mate :)

Beautiful Article ;)
But GIMP isn't that bad ;) Considering what Photoshop costs, GIMP is such a super alternative ;) I'm not going to buy a Photoshop for my part, apart from the fact that it doesn't work on Ubuntu ;))

You have a new follower ;)

Thank You <3

Adobe stuff I just have a lot of experience with. I suppose if you make use of it almost every day it's kinda rude not to pay for it eventually because it is pretty awesome software.

What Ubuntu GNU programs are out there?

Yes, if you use Photoshop you have to pay for it;) I don't need it, because I can do that with Gimp and I'm satisfied so far ;)

This is currently the last version of Ubuntu: Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark), but the 18.04 LTS will come in April ;)

Artful Aardvark...what a name! Might have to play with some distros again. Was using Lubuntu and Debian for fixing PCs for a while. ^^

As for photoshop, it becomes well worth it if you use it in a work capacity. If not, it gets expensive very quickly.

Great piece of art there! I like how you play with the horizontal elements.

Matching the horizons of the sky and ocean :)
Thanks!

AWesome post mate, I will sure check others out

I'm glad you enjoyed it ^^

Really nice artwork, man. Love the colours and the minimalistic design. It has been great seeing you around on Steemit and showing up on my blog ;) hope to see you again in Discord soon.

Very kind of you sir. It's been such a positive experience within this community far the posting comes pretty easy! Having a better time writing about my work too now, when I was younger I had more problems trying to explain it...winging it most of the time nevertheless :P

Awesome post mate!

Cheers blood

Lovely read, lovely graphic design! It sure looks retro, bold and great! You know, I actually remember a little bit of what you wrote the first time, there was something very funny about how you're trying to come up with narrative! I was writing a comment on it but wasn't able to finish it at the time, so it's also lost foreva. Nevermind, I came back to make sure I'll leave a comment hah. I like the stripes and I think that it's very cute that there are so many whales in the artwork, that they swim in a pack and stick together. I remember reading some great post in the first few days here on Steemit, which stated that it's good to work on relationships with users that have similar reputation to yours (instead of attacking whales for attention and pity upvotes etc.), and stick together and support each other while rising together on the platform. I realized at some (early) point here that's it's possible to make friends here. So you know, that's future us on your graphic! Love, Klaudia

It's been an interesting ride so far that's for sure! It's funny, the third time writing this I was already a little bit annoyed by it and it wasn't quite as motivated anymore xD. I think I'll still go back and improve the post some more...unusual for stuff to get lost nowadays but I just pressed too many buttons too quickly :P

Life in the Sea! Tis' abundant see. Whether Whale or Minnow, we all swim the same waters below. Numbers and Rep are one thing, hopefully though consistency prevails in the long run...marathon not a sprint and all that!

Keep on swimming ^^

Thanks for posting and great to have another graphic designer on Steemit! I'm trying to enrich the platform with graphic design as well :)

Well met brethren.
We can all use more colour in our life :)

Haha dope! Nice to meet you!
