Tina put her palms to her ears, running away! She didn’t want to hear any more. There were awful images in her brain already, screaming faces of different animals, with bulging eyes of horror!

Her brother laughed at her, pointing at his little sister, holding his belly with his other hand.

What a stupid girl!

Tina ran into the woods. She sobbed and kept running. She wished she didn’t have a brother! She didn’t want to stop making distance between her and Jimmy, her older brother. She kept going. She kept running. She stopped when she was finally tired. Her legs were sore and her breathing was difficult. She slowed down to sit on a fallen tree log. She sat to catch her breath, rubbing her face to clean it from her tears.

Suddenly, she was afraid. Looking around, she didn’t know where she was. She had never been this far into the forest and the trees were not familiar. She gulped. It was near the middle of the day but the woods felt dark and strange. Tina jumped off the log.

A great idea dawned in her head! She decided to follow the tracks that she must had made with her running. She felt better after she got this idea and looked for signs on the grass. Why were there no clear prints of the soles of her shoes? She had seen cartoons and they were always very obvious but there were no such things. She started to follow a direction where she thought were more trampled…

She went on.

The sun went on.

Tina started to feel panic rising. She almost screamed in frustration when she saw a tree that was very different to other trees. She stopped and peered at it. A bulky but straight wooden body with some shapes coming out from it at different height, always in mirror pairing. She recognized it! A totem!

She shivered. Tina wanted to get away from that scary thing! But Tina was always quite a smart girl. She told herself: If you are lost and people are looking for you, it is better to stay near a landmark!

Tina whined. She started to approach the totem reluctantly. The closer she was, the clearer its awful faces were! She looked away from it. If she didn’t see the heads, maybe she would be safe! She sat as near to it as she could brave herself.

She waited, seated on a rock near the totem. The hours passed, she was nervous at first but as time went, she felt tired and sleepy. The woods were quiet and she could only wait to be discovered. Tina looked around the small clearing. The totem was at the center of it. Tina thought it was a nice place. Calm.

Tina dozed into a nap but she didn’t realize it!

In her dreams, she remained seated where she was sitting in the quiet clearing, watching the sky. Pretty sky. The color was turning into gold. Clouds floated above her head. She breathed deeply. Suddenly, she felt warmth from behind her. It felt like the touch of the sun! She thought it made her feel happy. She felt safe and happy, and she let go of her worries completely. Soon, there were colors flying around her. From behind her and around her sides and circling her! They had animal shapes! She started to laugh, the spirits of the animals from the totem were dancing around her!

They were kind and full with wisdom. They are warm and they showed her the forest from the sky’s eye! They accompanied her and they were her friends. She realized their lessons! That no one was ever really alone! That we lived on Earth together, not only the ones that we could see now, but the ones that came before us lived on, too. She felt love!
A hand shook her shoulders urgently.

Tina! Wake up!

Jimmy’s face came into her view as she opened her eyes. He looked worried and sorry.

I’m sorry about before, Tina! Don’t go so deep into the forest, we were all very worried!

Tina smiled and hugged her brother. Jimmy was surprised.

It is smart that you stayed with the totem, Tina! It must scared you, I am sorry. I told lies, they weren’t beheaded…

Tina stood up and smiled: I know! I am not afraid of them anymore, Jimmy!

Jimmy didn’t have words, his mouth opened.

They are my friends!

Tina grabbed Jimmy’s hand and started to walk confidently. Jimmy followed for a few minutes before he coughed politely: You are going the wrong way, stupid!

She caught the totem from the corner of her eyes. Tina breathed. Smiling, she waved good-bye to her spirit friends in the totem.

Tina corrió hacia el bosque. Sollozando mientras seguía corriendo. ¡Deseaba no tener un hermano! Haciendo la mayor distancia posible entre ella y Jimmy, su hermano mayor. Ella siguió andando. Ella siguió corriendo. Se detuvo cuando finalmente estaba cansada. Sus piernas estaban adoloridas y se le iba la respiración. Redujo la velocidad para sentarse en un tronco de un árbol caído. Se sentó para recuperar el aliento, frotando su cara para limpiar las lágrimas.

De repente, un terror la inundó. Mirando a su alrededor, no sabía dónde estaba. Nunca había estado tan lejos dentro del bosque y los árboles ya no le eran familiares. Tragó saliva. Estaba cerca de la mitad del día, pero los bosques se sentían oscuros y extraños. Tina saltó del tronco.

Una gran idea llegó a su cabeza! Decidió seguir las pistas que debía haber hecho con su carrera. Se sintió mejor después de tener esta idea y buscó señales en el pasto. ¿Por qué no había huellas claras de las suelas de sus zapatos? Había visto dibujos animados y siempre eran muy evidentes, pero no había tales cosas. Comenzó a seguir una dirección donde pensó que se veía más "pisoteado"...

Ella continuó caminando.

El sol se puso.

Tina comenzó a sentir pánico en aumento. Ella casi gritó de frustración cuando vio un árbol que era muy diferente a otros árboles. Se detuvo y lo miró. Un cuerpo de madera voluminoso pero recto con algunas formas que salen de él a diferentes alturas, siempre en pares de espejos. Ella lo reconoció! ¡Un tótem!

Se estremeció. Tina quería alejarse de esa espantosa cosa! Pero Tina siempre fue una chica bastante inteligente. Se dijo a sí misma: Si estás perdida y la gente te está buscando, ¡es mejor estar cerca de un punto de referencia!

Un quejido salió de sus labios. Comenzó a acercarse al tótem de mala gana. ¡Mientras más cerca estaba ella, más claras eran sus caras horribles! Ella apartó la mirada de eso. Si ella no veía las cabezas, ¡tal vez estaría a salvo! Llenándose de coraje se sentó lo más cerca que pudo.

Esperó, sentada en una roca cerca del tótem. Las horas pasaron, estaba nerviosa al principio, pero con el tiempo, se sintió cansada y con sueño. El bosque estaba tranquilo y ella solo podía esperar para que la encontraran. Tina miró alrededor del pequeño claro. El tótem estaba en el centro de la misma. Pensó que era un lugar agradable. Calmado.

¡Tina se durmió sin darse cuenta!

En sus sueños, ella permaneció sentada donde estaba, mirando el cielo. Estaba precioso, el color se estaba convirtiendo en oro. Las nubes flotaban sobre su cabeza. Ella respiró profundamente. De repente, sintió calor detrás de ella. ¡Se sentía como el toque del sol! Pensó que la hacía sentir feliz. Se sentía segura y feliz, y dejó de lado sus preocupaciones por completo. Pronto, había colores volando a su alrededor. ¡Por detrás de ella y por sus costados, rodeándola! ¡Tenían formas de animales! ¡Se echó a reír, los espíritus de los animales del tótem bailaban a su alrededor!

Fueron amables y llenos de sabiduría. Exhumaban una calidez reconfortante y ¡le mostraron el bosque desde el ojo del cielo! La acompañaron y fueron sus amigas. ¡Ella se dio cuenta de sus lecciones! Que nadie estaba nunca realmente solo! Que vivimos juntos en la Tierra, no solo los que pudimos ver ahora, sino también los que vinieron antes que nosotros. ¡Ella sintió amor! Una mano sacudió sus hombros con urgencia.

¡Tina! ¡Despierta!

La cara de Jimmy apareció cuando abrió los ojos. Parecía preocupado y arrepentido.

Lo siento por lo de antes, Tina! ¡No te metas en el bosque, todos estábamos muy preocupados!

Tina sonrió y abrazó a su hermano. Jimmy estaba sorprendido.

¡Fue inteligente que te quedaras con el tótem, Tina! Debió de asustarte mucho, lo siento. Dije mentiras, no fueron decapitados ...

Tina se puso de pie y sonrió: ¡Lo sé! ¡Ya no les tengo miedo, Jimmy!

Jimmy no tenía palabras.

Ellos son mis amigos!

Tina agarró la mano de Jimmy y comenzó a caminar con confianza. Jimmy la siguió por unos minutos antes de toser educadamente: "¡Te estás yendo por el camino equivocado, tonta!"

El hermano liberó su mano y comenzó a correr hacia el camino a casa. ¡La niña más joven le gritó, persiguiendolo con todas sus fuerzas! ¡Ambos se estaban riendo!

Ella vio el tótem con el rabillo de sus ojos. Tina respiró. Sonriendo, se despidió de sus espíritus amigos.

Peace. It's what I feel at this moment that I arrived at my home in Puerto Ordaz, it was a long trip but it was totally worth it for being 15 days with my family, I feel super happy wrapped in home. In this way I can also concentrate on making the most out of producing a lot, since I have the advantage that I don't have to do all the housework that I do in Barquisimeto, however, I also miss my boyfriend and my daughter Luna a lot :(, I would have liked to make them small to keep them in my pocket and bring them with me, hahaha, but there are responsibilities to be fulfilled, I escaped a bit from that.
I made the sketch of this drawing back in my residence, one of those nights without light, the idea of ​​having an animal spirit fascinates me, in my case mine is a sloth, with sleep forever but, with a smile on my face.
For the composition I wanted a kind of sunset with the light peeking through the mountains, the totem shows an owl, what I wanted to look like a bear but ended up looking like a raccoon fox hahaj and down is my Luna, she would be so happy running around in this wild space.

Paz. Es lo que siento en este momento que ya llegué a mi casa en Puerto Ordaz, fue un viaje largo pero valió totalmente la pena por estar así sean 15 días con mi familia, me siento super feliz envuelta en calorsito de hogar. De esta manera también puedo concentrarme en aprovechar lo más que pueda para producir mucho, ya que tengo la ventaja de que no tengo que hacer todas las tareas domésticas que me tocan allá en Barquisimeto, sin embargo, también extraño mucho a mi novio y a mi hija Luna :(, me hubiese gustado hacerlos chiquiticos para guardármelos en el bolsillo y traerlos conmigo jajaja, pero hay responsabilidades que cumplir, yo me escapé un ratico de eso.
Hice el boceto de este dibujo allá en mi residencia, una de esas noches sin luz, la idea de tener un espíritu animal me fascina, en mi caso el mio es una pereza, con sueño para siempre pero, con una sonrisa en el rostro :D.
Para la composición quise una especie de atardecer con la luz asomándose entre las montañas, el tótem muestra un búho, lo que quería que pareciera un oso pero terminó pareciendo como un zorro mapache jajaj y abajo esta mi Luna, que por supuesto debía salir en este espacio salvaje y abierto ajajaja, ella sería tan feliz corriendo por ahí.

I did the sketch with red, and I refrained from using only black for the hair and eyes of the girl, mixed for her dress a mustard color, with purple to give shade and accentuating it with touches of browns.

El boceto lo hice con color rojo, y me abstuve a solo utilizar el negro para el cabello y los ojos de la chica, mezclé para su vestido un color mostaza, con morado para darle sombra y acentuándolo con toques de marrones.

I wasn't very sure how to do the waterfall, I think it lacked a bit more work, but, I felt that if it was too dark it would be like a blue wall in the background and it was not the idea, I should work with more nature styles, so in that way I can make it look like it is in my head, but hey, sometimes your hand fails to recreate it in the same way hahaha.

La cascada no estaba muy segura como hacerla, creo que le faltó un poco más de trabajo, pero, sentía que si lo oscurecía mucho iba a quedar como una pared azul en el fondo y tampoco era la idea, debo trabajar con más estilos naturales, solo así podré lograr que se vea como está en mi cabeza, pero bueno, a veces tu mano no logra recrearlo de la misma manera jajaja.

I thought a lot about the totem, in the end I used bright colors to make it stand out, I had to see some references on the internet because I thought they were all brown you know hahaha, but they are quite colorful (of course not all).

Los tótem los pensé mucho, al final utilicé colores brillantes para hacerlo resaltar, allí tuve que ver algunas referencias por internet porque pensé que todos eran esculpidos sobre la madera y ya, pero si son bastante coloridos (por supuesto no todos).

Finally I added the spirits that lie within the totem, here was a better than expected, I had no idea if it was going to be as I wanted but, works for me hahaha, I gave a few touches of white paint, but then I realized that I could erase it and it was with the same result without damaging the paper, well, from mistakes we learned.

Para finalizar le agregué los espíritus que yacen dentro del tótem, já acá fue un mejor de lo esperado, no tenía ni idea si me iba a resultar como yo quería pero, funciona para mi ajajaja, le di unos toques con pintura blanca, pero luego me di cuenta que podía borrarlo y quedaba con el mismo resultado sin dañar la hoja, bueno, de los errores se aprende.

My dad fixed my laptop wuju!, it does not open the images but all my information is still here and most importantly the photoshop, I do not upload a photo with him because he spends all day working and more Now that he was delegated more activities due to lack of personnel, now he is a firefighter assistant and chief of ambulance, in addition to his normal job in the briquette manufacturing company, he really is a person that I admire a lot and I would like to be a millionaire so in that way he can take that break that he really needs :(, but well, dreaming does not cost anything, I know that someday I will be able to give them the vacation they deserve so much, I do not lose faith in that :D.

Mi papá me arregló la laptop wuju!, quedó con unas fallitas como que no abre las imagenes pero sigue toda mi información y lo más importante el photoshop, no subo una foto con él porque se la pasa ocupado todo el día trabajando y más ahora que le delegaron más actividades por falta de personal, ahora es ayudante de bombero y jefe de ambulancia, además de su trabajo normal en la empresa de fabricación de briquetas, de verdad es una persona que admiro mucho y me gustaría ser millonaria para que dejara de trabajar y se relajara que le hace mucha falta :(, pero bueno, soñar no cuesta nada, sé que algun dia sere capaz de brindarles esas vacaciones que ellos tanto se merecen, no pierdo la fe de eso :D.
