My Interpretation
The artist is trying to show the great wealth divide simply in a common wedding. Throwing rice and confetti at a newly-wed couple is traditional customs in western weddings. While the seemingly well-off people don on suit and wedding gowns to celebrate, the rice thrown away are picked up by poor peasants thus telling the sign of the wealth divide. Sad but true.
