So I'm wrapping up another semester here with my final portrait. As I mentioned last post, I'll try to keep these up. This one is probably one of my least favorites this time around. I really was having a hard time finding something I wanted to paint, but I settled on this image. I also made a close up...

This painting spent a lot of time in the "ugly" phase. All the way to the point to where I was wondering if it would ever get out of that point, but it eventually did. It's still not one of my favorites but eh, progress not perfection I guess.

the hands for me feel weird not sure why, maybe because i feel like with them the down part of the body is missing. feels like it looks better cropped
Thanks! Hmm, yea I could see that, the hands are a big focal point taking attention away from the face, then there's not much of a payoff there since I left them pretty simple.
only thing i could draw/paint is a stickman so in my photographic mind i expect a body :D the black could be some kind of dress, maybe if it had some details.
i do like this rough but somewhat detailed style (i am sure it has a name :D )
